Pinky flick models

#1

Post by Fireman »

Ok fellow fidgeters…
Some spyderco models excel at “pinky flicking” (pinky in hole flicking downward) I never liked the PM2 because it was too small for my hands and could never get beyond the way it rubbed my index finger and absolutely love the Millie. I happened to fall into a Maxamet PM2 thanks to Yabo and once I pinky flipped it… magic happened. It is one of the best pinky flipping spyderco knives I own and I find myself wanting to carry it as a second (or third) knife just so I can do that. What other models “Pinky flip” the best? The Spydiechef, Shaman and Caribbean also excel at this method but I think the PM2 is king at the “Pinky flick” I got some Flytanium contoured scales to see if it alleviates the hot spot issue for my XL hands. The pinky flick is a rapid deployment method when tip up carry so I do it a lot.

the yojimbo is the best for me when it comes to the pinky flick. it has such a heavy blade that it really slams open with authority.

I prefer ring finger. I also prefer to call this the Cobra Opening method, because it's so cool.

There used to be a gif of this but I can't find it. I know Michael Janich has it.

I have a difficult time with any flick other than the thumb flick. Maybe the other flicks are easier for people with relatively long fingers?

Hey, Evil D:

Yep... The opening scenes of Stallone's "Cobra" movie include him surreptitiously drawing a Michael Walker custom LinerLock and opening it reverse grip with his ring finger, then throwing it underhand into the bad guy before lighting him up with a 1911. It also features some of the cheesiest one-liners of any B-movie action flick, all compressed into a couple of minutes. If you want to skip those, jump ahead to about 3:30...

I just watched Silent Rage with Chuck Norris the other day from 1982...talk about things that would not fly in movies today! Too many sensitive people to enrage these days. I secretly love the terribly made movies. When my wife and I first started dating, we would love to go to RedBox and try to find the cheesiest movies for a date night.

Sorry to go way off topic on your flicking thread. I'll see myself out now.
