I am looking at my collection as it has thinned out now. I have thinned it out these days to just users.

As far as starting over with the knives I use the most.

Ladybug
Native 5 Salt
Maxamet PM2
Shaman S30V
Was never a space cadet, but with LC200N I might be more in space than a cadet.

I hope I never have to, but I'd probably rebuild my collection by get one of the following in whatever stainless steel option would be available:
- Stretch
- Ladybug/Manbug
- Delica
- Native
- Dragonfly
- Lil' Temp

Man... That's a difficult question.
I'd say 80% of my collection is discontinued...
Same here. Most of mine are sprints/exclusives. Can't really play this game!
15 :bug-red 's in 10 different steels
1 - Bradford Guardian 3 / Vanadis 4E Wharnie
1 - Monterey Bay Knives Slayback Flipper / ZDP 189
1 - CRK Small Sebenza 31/Macassar Ebony Inlays
1 - CRK Large Inkosi Insingo/ Black Micarta Inlays
1 - CRK Small Sebenza 31 Insingo/Magnacut

Discontinued is one thing, sprints are another. M4 and 4V are fun steels but an S30V Manix XL would work fine for me in their place.

I’d be out of the collecting business. Actually, already sort of there. I’d certainly wouldn’t have 10 PM2s.

I would put a cap on 10 Spyderco knives. Start with these, in this order, tool steel if possible, and would think really hard about going beyond,

PM2
Native 5 G10 or CF
GB2
UKPK G10
Military

Same as the other thread to start and then a few others. I would likely reassemble my accumulation over years though as I get very tickled by new releases.

Spyidiechef because it's so practical
One Eyed Jack and Swayback for nicer use
Leafstorm because it was the first one I got
Jester & Dodo again because of the practicality
Stovepipe because I went against my instinct and liked it
PM2 & Native Chief for harder use
And some version of a Q since it was my first compression lock.

Then the rest?

If I had to start my Spyderco collection over with, say, just five knives that I am able to realistically acquire in late 2022, I'd go with the following:
  • Yojimbo 2 DLC
  • Yojimbo 2 trainer
  • Ronin 2
  • Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight SpyderEdge
  • Dragonfly 2 Salt SpyderEdge
To be honest, the Yojimbo 2 is really all I need to cover my work/EDC folder requirements, but having the same pattern in a fixed-blade in the Ronin 2 gives me a neat little fixed blade for outdoors utility use while the Yojimbo 2 trainer makes for a fun training accessory in the gym. I just have to throw in the serrated LT3LW though, as I find a serrated folder very useful at work & it's currently my favourite serrated model (and one of my favourite designs overall). Finally, the serrated Dragonfly 2 Salt gives me an option for circumstances where the Yojimbo, Ronin, and LT3 may not be the best choice, such as use in marine environments or non-permissive contexts.

Also, if I had to restart my collection knowing what I know now about cutlery steels & having learned what I have over the years about what works best for me functionally & ergonomically, my collection would probably end up being about half the size of what it is now. I don't really regret any Spyderco purchase I've made, but so many of those purchases were motivated by curiosity & a desire to fill in gaps in experience. Now that I've pretty much zeroed in on what I really want & need in a folder, I probably won't feel like re-purchasing my entire collection again (it doesn't help that a number of them are discontinued models that would be a pain to reacquire in 2022).

I would restart my collection with the OG kapara, the dlt 20cv kapara, the maxamet para3, the shaman, and the lil native if I could only have 5. I think that would cover most of my bases.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask , I’m new to the forums. How and where do you apply to be a spyderco gold member collector

Manix 2 (probably G10, possibly lightweight)
Chaparral or Sage
Victorinox Compact

Of course, I'd probably get more from there. The Kapara would likely be on the list, as well as the Watu.

I would try to obtain "upgraded" exclusive versions of each:
Para2
Delica4
Manix2
Endura4
Lil Native
Para3
Techno2 (because the Bowie would be almost impossible to replace)
Stretch XL
Dragonfly2
Ayoob
Maybe a Sage5 LW
I would wait for the Military 2 to come out to fill that void.

The GB2 would be my first replacement for sure. Then the Crucarta PM2. Both exceptional knives. Oh yeah, don't want to forget the Maxamet Manix2.

Siren
Waterway
Serrated Pacific Salt

Those three meet all my needs. Everything else is in the “want” category.

A few wants I would likely acquire are…

Manix LW in some exotic steel
Stretch 2 XL (ideally a salt version)
Millie 1 in some exotic steel

Well, I only have four Spyderco knives and if by collection we mean just Spyderco I could by only two and be quite content. Native Chief in XHP and the Stretch 2 XL that was just released.

Chapparal in any flavor
Native 5 fluted CF S90V
Native Chief REX45
Slysz Bowie
Watu
PM2 K390
Military in a high edge retention steel, possibly Ti but G10 S30V would be just as good.

Tried to put only a couple, didn't succed.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Robin. Finally made an IG : ramo_knives
