Pingo/Roadie one hand and locked?

#1

Post by austrian_spyder_fan »

Hi Spydernuts,

I was lucky enough to get a Pingo for my collection last month!
I took it as EDC for the last too weeks and i like this little knife.
But I'm missing something really hard and it's not the lock....

What whould you say to a one hand knife with a Pingo/Roadie shaped blade at 2,75 to 3" and a lock ????

Hi A/S,

The Pingo handle is being used on the "Metropolitan" model which has a blade length of 2.75". It's between the Urban (2.5") and the Squeak (2.0") in blade length. Should be out within the next year.

Hi Sal,

thanks for your reply.
I'm looking forward to the Metropolitan.
But it will be a Slipit, right?
What about a locking "Pingo" as requested by me?

Get well soon from me and Mrs. ASF

At this time, the Chaparral would be closest.

Whoa, the Metropolitan is using the Pingo handle?!?! Having trouble wrapping my head around that. Can’t wait to see it! Always guessed it would use the Spy DK handle to fit in with the Squeak, Urban, UKPK line.

HI Guys

I stand corrected. It's the DK handle. My bad. Getting old I guess. I designed the Metropolitan when I designed the DK. I thought the DK might have limited life so the Metropolitan was part of the original plan as it was tooled in FRN and I wanted a longer life for the mold.

I always thought the Pingo would make a nice fixed blade.

It would, indeed, make a nice fixed blade.

I like the Pingo but want it to be thinner behind the edge. Since it has no point, I want a fantastic slicer. Another point, I think the Pingo handle is the nicest looking of any Spyderco in shape.

I think the new Metropolitan with the DK handle will be just great, but please don't let them make it thick behind the edge.

Let's make it a bit smaller and call it a Lobsterfly.

If that name sticks I request one off the top of the deck.

I love vox/anso designs, so it was quite a bummer when the pingo handle didn't work out for me. My middle and ring fingers could not find a comfortable spot because of that hook.

The giant mouse nibbler is way more comfortable.

There's plenty of vox, anso, and vox/anso designs out there, but adding Spyderco into that would equation gives it that little bit extra

Vox and Anso now have their own knife company which makes them competitors. We generally do not do collaborations with competitors. Sorry.

Yeah, I figured that was the case. I guess all I can hope for is more exclusives of the rock lobster
