I remember there being warping issues with the zero grind, did any of them leave the factory with a bevel?

With the first batch many people experienced edge rippling because S30V was not strong enough to support a zero grind. Soon after that Spyderco shipped them with a micro bevel. That fixed most of the issues.

Yes, mine came with a very very small one and is probably one of the earlier in production, though definitely not among the first batches because as Hans mentioned the first ones were true zero grind. Cliff Stamp still has a video on YouTube about this where he does some sharpening and correcting of the issues people had with it.

This would probably be the #1 plain edge knife I'd be interested in seeing get an updated version in a steel more forgiving of such edge angles.

Ok, thanks guys. Just caught one in my nevk of the woods and i was so excited i didnt realize till the buy it now button was pounded down that the secondary bevel might have been reason to give pause, though in all honesty the buy it now button would have been mashed whether i had noticed or not. This is the one that got away, bad steel choice or not, abd i fully expect it will quench all further desires to aquire. Every knife in means at least one out *waves goodbye to a lnib szabo

It is a fascinating knife, despite the wrong steel.

It really is an outstanding knife, very well made, and the S30V does just fine with a 30° microbevel.
