Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
I’ve only ever had one Spyderco with this type of clip, a Pacific Salt. They work well. I don’t think they look bad but I think the 3 screw version looks better.
However I agree with the people saying it’s a good idea for linerless salt knives. It just seems like a no brainer.
No aftermarket replacement clip options isn’t great though. Not important to me but I think it might be to others.

Mine also has some wiggle because it’s worn out the FRN, however I don’t dislike the clip. The wiggle is my only complaint.

I like the combined clip screw and lanyard hole concept. I'm not really a fan of these clips overall or the big square cutout and trying to unscrew it with 2 coins is a little fiddly. If they designed a big wire clip for a barrel nut, I'd probably like that.

Welcome aboard. Give Spyderco a call. They might have some as there is a model or two still using them, as far as I know.

I like it fine on my Pacific Salts, Spyderhawk Salt, Tasman Salt, and Assist Rescue Salt where it solves the challenge of their linerless construction. On non-salt Spydies, I’m good with what they offer.

Amazing this question is still being talked about.
Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
“Barrel Nut Clip Holder” sounds like a creative insult.
Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
I was just thinking the other day how I'd love to see a run of magnacut pac salt 1. There's really nothing about that knife to criticize and I don't find the ergos on the PS-2 to be an improvement.

I didn't think I would either, but I do. Both are great though.

Really enjoy it on my salt 1!

Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
Prefer? Not really. I find that both the Barrel Nuts on my Atlantic Salts (my main work knives) and the 3 screw versions on my Pacific Salts work great. I like them both!
Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
I like the barrel nut clip. I need a couple new barrel nuts. Where can I buy them?
Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
I like how it is diesigned. However the wiggle isn't only on worn FRN, sometimes the socket doesn't exact fit the clip. My old Native 1 that is still like new (and not modified) has a case of the wiggly (but not much).
In the collection : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Re: Anyone else prefer Barrel Nut Clip Holder
I also hate the small screws, but to me the best solution is switching to wire clips across the board. They look nicer and they reduce hotspots. Seems like a win-win. Not sure if it would work with tip down or not, which isn’t an issue for me, but I know some people prefer it. I’d definitely like to see an across the board switch on knives that are only setup for tip-up carry ala the Manix.
