It stings a bit that I waited a long time to pick this version up (the only LW Manix I currently own) only to have the screw together construction be announced a month later. I was considering grinding out the pins and adding screws/posts but can’t seem to find the right hardware.

It’s not bad to do the conversion:

The hardware I used is this:

Since doing my conversion, I wanted less tall screw heads than the T8 clip screws I used, but I found that the 2-56x1/4” T6 screws were too long. I filed/sanded them down to something <3/16” to allow them to tighten properly. Now, the screws heads are much closer to flush with the FRCP, about how the original rivet heads were, but I now need 2 torx drivers for disassembly.

A little off topic, but I’ve been curious for a while: Did we ever find out why the Manix LW FRCP isn’t the same color as the Native FRN?
I was wondering about that too
Pretty sure I remember reading it was due to the FRCP unable to accept the "cobalt" dye versus the FRN; so they had to change the dye color for their FRCP. I may be wrong however and am open to correction.
For injection molding they begin with a pre made plastic pellet and they weren’t able to acquire an FRCP pellet color that matched their FRN pellet color.

Here is the explanation from Spyderco via their December 2020 Spyderbyte -

“ Spyderco’s first CPM SPY27 knives—the Para™ 3 Lightweight and Native® 5 Lightweight—feature “cobalt blue” handles in honor of the steel’s cobalt content. Although we successfully achieved that specific color in their fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handles, replicating it in the FRCP material used in the Manix 2 Lightweight without duplicating the blue used in the CPM S110V version proved to be more challenging. Ultimately, we opted for a “mineral blue” hue, which is different than its peers, but no less distinctive.”
Thanks Mushroom :cheap-sunglasses. I actually kind of prefer the FRCP color versus the FRN. Gives SPY27 more distinction.

This is in opposite direction of your question, but National Knives has the pinned version on a good sale. You must be logged in to see the $107 listing. I realize this is the opposite of what you are asking for but seems like a screaming deal in case you want to consider it.

Thanks for the heads up! $50 off is a good reason to buy. Do I need it? No,,,.,,,,,but I ordered One!

I've seen a post saying there's a place in the USA selling it on sale at like $100 USD on another thread, a very good deal IMO
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Has anyone tried to Rit Dye the Manix 2 SPY27 scales something closer to the cobalt blue color?

I picked up this knife on Black Friday, and have really come to enjoy it. I hope that SPY27 will make its way to to other models. I'd be interested in a Dragonfly, for instance.
