Manix 2 Lightweight CPM SPY27

Does anyone know if the Manix 2 Lightweight CPM SPY27 on the Spyderco website is the screw together construction? From the pictures it looks like it is but I want to be sure.

It was a rolling change, so I think you will need to ask the seller if they can check before shipping to you.

I agree with JR. It's best to ask the dealer to check to be sure. I know the first run was pinned because I have one. My guess would be subsequent runs will be screw construction. I'm not really sure I'd trust pictures on the website either

This is in opposite direction of your question, but National Knives has the pinned version on a good sale. You must be logged in to see the $107 listing. I realize this is the opposite of what you are asking for but seems like a screaming deal in case you want to consider it.

That is a great deal but I really want the screw together construction. Not long ago I got a Native 5 FRN screw together and I am really impressed with it.

Pretty sure I remember reading it was due to the FRCP unable to accept the "cobalt" dye versus the FRN; so they had to change the dye color for their FRCP. I may be wrong however and am open to correction.

You're welcome AND I'm sorry. :squinting-tongue

The reason I know if it is because I keep staring at it and telling myself I don't need it. Hoping that spreading the word here will send it out-of-stock..... Surely it's payday Friday of some of you?!?!?

It isn't, We talked about the real color of the Manix LW SPY27 on another thread and I made a photo of it with surexposition to show its real color. Here is a link to it : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92555&start=40#p1628086

Edit : reposting the pic here since it's mine :

The color of the Manix LW SPY27 is beautiful! I love it and would like to see more in the exact color. It is in the Teal family, or close to it.

For injection molding they begin with a pre made plastic pellet and they weren’t able to acquire an FRCP pellet color that matched their FRN pellet color.

Here is the explanation from Spyderco via their December 2020 Spyderbyte -

“ Spyderco’s first CPM SPY27 knives—the Para™ 3 Lightweight and Native® 5 Lightweight—feature “cobalt blue” handles in honor of the steel’s cobalt content. Although we successfully achieved that specific color in their fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handles, replicating it in the FRCP material used in the Manix 2 Lightweight without duplicating the blue used in the CPM S110V version proved to be more challenging. Ultimately, we opted for a “mineral blue” hue, which is different than its peers, but no less distinctive.”

Thanks, everyone! I like it, but it’s a bit of a bummer for me that the cobalt color wasn’t achievable in FRCP.
