Mine did. Of course, I just cord wrapped mine and used it. The reports I read all seemed to be people had the blade clamped in a vise while they were working on fitting scales and the knife snapped. No one that I saw admitted they were applying lateral force (such as filing down handle material) much less saying how hard they were pushing when it happened, it was always "it just snapped".z1r wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 2:30 pmAt least that cures my non-buyer's remorse! :-) I bet they would take a great edge.troutinCO wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 2:17 pm"hard and brittle": I swear that was what the "bad heat treat" was they were discussing.yablanowitz wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:21 pmThere was a paper in my bag that said they found a box of ZDP Mules in the factory in Seki. They may or may not be too hard and brittle, so they were selling them as collector items and recommended they not be used as cutting tools. When they were first released, a bunch of people snapped them while putting handles on. I never had a problem with mine.

Thanks for the info. I assume these were marked with the little grind mark over the hole. I'd hate to buy one on the second-hand market and not know.

I didn't check them, but my guess would be they were.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
I was shocked that there wasn't a line at ~2:15pm when I got there with my son. Usually, we still have to wait around 60-90 minutes by that point in the afternoon. What a nice change! It was also cool how they had some tables set up in the lobby this year, I hope they continue doing that!
Here is a copy of the sheet that went with the ZDP-189 Mules they were selling. They may or may not be bad/good...
Lol, I was there at the same time too!

Re: Seconds sale 2022
These ZDP-189 Mules DO indeed have the factory seconds notch on the non-show side of the blade near the Spyder hole.

Welcome to all of the new posters.
On the ZDP Mules, the maker said that they had re-heat treated them and them were sorted. We just didn't have enough of them for a Mule Run so the Sale seemed like the best solution.
I'd like to thank all of you that attended. Gail and I had planned to visit during the sale, but I had some major surgery last week and will be recovering for several weeks.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Sal, it is very hard when both husband and wife are recovering from injury or surgery at the same time. Rest well and stay strong. This will all be here when you are feeling well again.
PS-thanks for the making the C-60 run happen. I love that knife so much, I bought a bunch of them.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Yes! Exactly what I hoped would happen. Thankfully, after the BF sales I don't need anything, but I will make a point of checking in the future.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Exciting stuff! SPY27 Para for 75 bucks, hope someone picks that up that hasn't tried the steel. Tapped myself out with a PacSalt, Ladybug AND a backup Native salt the last few days but I'm excited to hear about what deals you guys get!
Edit: 4 dollars more for Maxamet ("5.99 are you out of your mind!?")

Can't even open the link for 12min, let alone buy something. Good luck to whoever manages to buy.
