Seconds sale 2022
Re: Seconds sale 2022
I just found out about this on IG. Page wouldn't load on my phone or tablet. So I fired up my laptop with a faster connection. There's not really anything I need. Maybe the P.I.T.S. and possibly a Stovepipe (just to have) but I think I'm going to pass
This was a really nice surprise for Cyber Monday. I hope a lot of people here can take advantage of it. I'll keep an eye on it to see if anything I really want pops up

I see it is a Flash Sale and not what I wanted. I'd rather see quarterly sales of select seconds.

I grabbed the S110v G10 Manix. There weren't any good sales to be had this weekend on that.
I wanted to grab another S110v Para 3 for a spare but decided I really didn't need another knife at all, never mind a duplicate :P

Re: Seconds sale 2022
I clicked on the PITS and saw they listed it as new. The PITS is one knife I always wanted but never bought. For $135 I decided I couldn't pass it up. I added a red cap (already have the black one) and got free shipping. Great deal!

I’m tempted but having been to a few seconds sales I’m a little wary of buying sight unseen.

That just meant it's a new listing. It's a seconds and will come with the notch in the spine of the blade.

Load time indicates something's off, but...wow, seconds straight from Spyderco! Good for them. I guess they've decided to compete with seconds-sale flippers! A S110V Manix for $58? Wow! Not for me though, I tend to dwell on imperfections and wish I'd spent more to not have them. Note: "All sales final."
Quick someone buy them up before I weaken.
That is exactly what I was thinking. Glad they got bought up.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Well I had to jump on the Native 5 in Maxamet for $79. I always wanted to try a Native 5 and a high wear steel so this did it for me. Sadly this might mean I will skip on the BBB as I already have a Manix (yes only one) and now with Maxamet I have a high wear steel.
This was definitely a buy first ask questions later.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Maybe? It didn't appear that way in the listing. Regardless, I had great luck at the last online seconds sale. The SpyOpera I bought is perfect and the Paysan only has a tiny little speck on the blade. I'm pretty sure the PITS will be as good. I'll let you know
EDIT: I went back and looked at it again. I'm sure you're right. It says Factory Second in the listing and the description goes on to say it's a second. I think I did the same thing during the last sale

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Honestly, I think this went much better than the last online seconds sale. The site was still quite a bit slow, but it just isn't made to handle that kind of traffic. They didn't have to do this at all so I'm just going to be grateful for the opportunity to pick up a couple more knives.

For myself: warped blades that contact liners on closing necessitating you to push the blade over so it closes, and knives that have actions so tight that feel like someone took a breaker bar to the pivot while assembling the knife (yet they’re still wobbly blades).GarageBoy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:09 pmWhat's the gnarliest thing you've seen sold as a second?bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:05 pmI’m tempted but having been to a few seconds sales I’m a little wary of buying sight unseen.

Re: Seconds sale 2022
Took almost an hour, but way less time out then the last online seconds sale. Very cool surprise when I got the notification, luckily Monday is conference call day @ work so I had plenty of uninterrupted time.
Picked up a PITS and a plain-jane Shaman, which I justified was a necessity when I realized I don't currently own a stainless Shaman.

Yup. Also extremely wonky bevels as well as serious lock stick.Rinzler wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:50 pmFor myself: warped blades that contact liners on closing necessitating you to push the blade over so it closes, and knives that have actions so tight that feel like someone took a breaker bar to the pivot while assembling the knife (yet they’re still wobbly blades).GarageBoy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:09 pmWhat's the gnarliest thing you've seen sold as a second?bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:05 pmI’m tempted but having been to a few seconds sales I’m a little wary of buying sight unseen.
It’s nice to be able to see them yourself. Lots of the knives have almost no flaws.
