Thermochromic scales?
Thermochromic scales?
Let’s get a mood ring Manix 2!
Would liquid crystal scales be feasible?
Perhaps solid aluminum or steel scale base with liquid crystals over the top then plastic over that…
Who’s with me?

Apparently they make thermochromic powder so perhaps it could be added to resin like the raffir noble chap… here’s an example of thermochromic

Re: Thermochromic scales?
It sounds very interesting if it the strength of scales are there for use . It definitely would be a conversation starter . Would it glow in the dark or just change in color when in hand ? Sorry if silly question I don’t know much about the properties. MG2

Re: Thermochromic scales?
They just change color depending on the temperature. Although thermoluminecent would be interesting, too.

I had a sweatshirt in middle school that did this. It was only two colors though. It didn’t show a spectrum. It was cool then. We liked to put handprints on each others backs. Some folks might be interested in the novelty?

Nice, I think I only had 2 as well. If I recall they were expensive for the time.bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:26 pmYup, had two of them.JSumm wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 2:33 pmHypercolor?bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 8:10 amI had a sweatshirt in middle school that did this. Re: Thermochromic scales?
After a bit of light reading, it seems that color change via liquid crystal would be difficult. Leuco dyes, like the ones in the aforementioned hypercolor clothes seem more viable.
