C07 Police

The Harpy is another notable model. Also the Moran has been produced for a long time as well.

I’ve got an all black stainless steel Police model, one of the first. The next year my rep called me and said to put my knife in a safe because they were going to discontinue the model because people complained the black finish wore off. I carried that knife for the next 24+ years. The blade is still black but the handles are kinda a dark satin stainless steel ;) ;) really kinda pretty

I seem to remember seeing a Dragonfly at a big trade show in 1980 or 1981.

IIRC, the longest-produced current Spyderco knife is the SS Police. I believe it was the third Spyderco knife model, after the SS Worker and the SS Mariner, both of which are long out of production. The SS Police was originally conceived as a Mariner with a point.

Hey, All:

With rare exceptions (like the C06 Tusk), the SKU number reflects the sequential release of the knife. As such, lower numbers equal older models. The Police Model is therefore the oldest model in continuous production, followed by the Harpy, Endura, Delica, Civilian/Matriarch, and Rescue.

Stay safe,

Mike

If you saw a Spyderco knife that far back, it had to be a C01 Worker. Before 1981, Spyderco didn't make knives. The Dragonfly was introduced in 1994. Welcome to the forum, and I'll try to stop picking on you now. :winking-tongue

Hi Sal, thanks for the welcome.
Yablanowitz, please feel free to correct me. My memory is a little fuzzy during that period 😀
