clip snag

I have been carrying my Standard G10 SE in my RH jeans pocket for a long time. I keep getting the clip snagged on the storm door handle, the seat belt in the car etc. Today was a trying day and in addition to all the other stresses, I snagged the clip on the striker plate of the door. It bent the clip out to a 30 degree angle. I had to remove the clip, re-arch it and re-install with Loctite. One of the screws went too far and hit the blade. I had to file that screw down for clearance. Looks like I will now have to carry the knife in the waistband of my jeans. Has anyone else had this problem? Jerry

The only place I have had problems catching clips is on the handrail at the bootom of my deck.It just seems to be in the right-wrong place.It loves my Military and Native clips.I have taught myself to avoid it.

I learn something new everyday,even though I don't want to. Jeff

Everything seems to catch my clips when I carry right handed. Sometimes I carry in my left pocket instead, sure seems to reduce those encounters.

Yes,I have had the same problem catching clips on the seatbelt,rear storm door ,the door jamb on my Buddy's boat,dragging it against various pieces of furniture in the house,etc.It happens almost every time I carry in my r/f pocket.I usually carry down inside my l/f pocket instead.tom.

Yup, I had the same problem when I carried my Endura...used to hang up on the steering wheel cover of the patrol truck. One time it actually came out of my pocket and i flipped out because I didn't know where it was. After doing my rounds more than enough times and not finding it anywhere, I went back to the truck. Lo and behold, there was my Endura hanging on the steering wheel cover. Other than that though, no other problems with hang up. Thankfully.

At work I carry my EDC clipped in the cargo pocket of my BDU's. I've banged them into things a few times,but no real probs(the pocket's folds keep them from getting scratched). Never had a prob w/knives clipped to jeans pockets.

You said one of the screws hit the blade. Were they all the same size? I'm assuming there were no clearance probs before.

I don't think I've ever had a knife pulled out of my pocket (I used to carry in RB), but I've switched to IWB to prevent that from happening. It's also nice that IWB is very low profile. Most of my customers wouldn't be happy if they knew I was carrying a 3+ in blade. It doesn't go well with the shirt and tie image.

Another time I was getting out of my truck and the seat belt caught the knife and flipped it onto the asphalt. Luckily no damage. The clip screws were no problem before so I guess that the G10 compressed some or I torqed the screw tighter. The Locktite I used may have changed something. Nice thing about a shiny clip is that you can buff all the scratches off.

Upon attempting entry into my car, I deeply scratched the paint of the rear door with the clip of my Military. (This happened shortly after I had purchased the knife which was carried in my right rear pocket). Maybe that's why to this day I haven't really taken a liking to the Military and have always found a reason to justify why it shouldn't be my EDC.

Maybe a group hug (with the Military, the car, and myself) will someday bring closure to this unfortunate incident. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
