Yeah mine came today as well, feels super-solid and quality. The compression lock is very tight, which I guess is good to resist that pointy blade opening by accident. When I push the compression lock open, the pivot is drop open/shut smooth. Beautiful addition to my small collection.

Broke down and bought one that came through today and wow, it’s perfect. I’m not exaggerating, the grind is perfection, it’s dead nuts centered, and there’s exactly zero wiggle locked up. Didn’t touch a screw and the action couldn’t be better. Not my first Yo2, but possibly the first I’ll be keeping. Love the smooth G10 too — very comfortable in hand. The whole handle disappears when gripped and it ain’t moving.

Discontinued.

I accidentally deployed mine too violently resulting in a hairline from the Spydiehole straight down to the edge. Will take and post a picture shortly to hear some of the expert opinions on here cuz I really like it but am hesitant to carry it now.

How does the other side look?

Is it visible the whole width of the hole?

Do you have dye penetrant testing stuff?

The other side wasn't as distinct and the hole inside I couldn't tell you for the love of me. I'll take some more pictures next week and if you don't mind Atilla could you explain the dye penetrant?

It’s a nondestructive testing method to find defects I broken or suspect parts and as a welding inspection.

The very low viscosity penetrating dye is applied to a part and finds its way into cracks. After removal of excess dye penetrant, a developer is applied, and what dye is in cracks is drawn out of the cracks and is visible.

Thank you for the explanation Atilla, sounds expensive and time-consuming so I'd rather just send it in and have the good folks at Golden take a look at it and maybe learn from it.

Lighting conditions have been terrible around here lately so no pics yet. Will try to use the macro lens on my phone for a better view. Thank you for your patience. Anyone at Spyderco able to get me free return shipping on this? Not looking for a refund, Amsterdam Meet was more than enough compensation.

Here's the macroshots, I'm convinced at this point that structural integrity has been compromised.

Could you please explain "accidentally deployed mine too violently" as the cause of the crack?

I intertially open all my Yo 2s, which is arguably the most violent form of deployment. I've never had an issue like this and don't understand how the forces involved in deployment would stress this area of the blade.

Stay safe,

Mike

Is that really a crack or just a deeper line (scratch) from grinding caused by a carbide being torn out and momentarily stuck in the grinding wheel. Hard to see anything on the obverse side, cutting edge, or finger hole. Have you looked at it under magnification with a loupe? :thinking

Thank you Mike for your concern, by accidentally I mean thumbflicking it as usual but too violently in the sense that your YoJimbo2 is so smooth and I have been used to my C12 backlock for so long that I put way too much force into that deployment and heard the blade crack open instead of the usual snap. After further inspection I noticed a hairline amd my buddy just checked and he is also convinced that it's fractured as he also noticed a V inside the thumbhole. If you zoom in on the pictures you can see better. No fault of yours, just me being an idiot.

Hope you have a good one and stay safe as well,
max

Dang, dude, that sucks! Have you called Knifecenter? Spyderco warranty is going to tell you that it’s a loss and you can have store credit or they’ll offer to send the corpse of the knife back.

Store credit sounds nice so I'll take your advice and rather send them an email with pictures, it's too early to call there now.

Like you I initially didn't think much of it but my buddy looked at it for 20 minutes in bright light and he said the crack continues to the edge where it tapers off. Full disclosure this happened after hundreds of flawless deployments and I admit being harder on my gear maybe than most with a lot of wrist action to compensate for the stiffer pivot setting I prefer on all my folders, which also doesn't allow for inertial opening. This noble CruJimbo has never been dropped or sent flying in any way and grips very well despite its smooth G10. Sent KnifeCenter an email yesterday so hopefully they get back to me.

As expected they referred me back to manufacturer so I sent my enquiry to Spyderco customer service. No reply after more than 2 weeks... is this common or should I be worried?
