Wouldn't one expect to see these announced on the Spyderco app? The exclusives are hit and miss in the app, but mostly miss lately.

I personally don't think the Yojimbo and smooth/slick G-10 is a good combination! I have the Knifecenter Cru-Wear Para 3 in smooth G-10 and it's very slick, it's beautiful but definitely slick! And for specifically what the Yojimbo is designed for.....

I just bought one for the cruwear. There’s lots of micarta aftermarket scales out there.

Anyone looking for smooth G10 scales?

I gotta be honest, the Smooth G-10/Cruwear combo is one of the exclusives I really don't get. I agree with u/benben, it is perhaps a particularly bad idea for the YoJimbo. Well, maybe not a bad idea if it sells, but seems somewhat counterproductive for the intended use of the knife (where you want all the grip you can get).

I guess some folks put micarta scales on their yojimbos, so clearly it has use as an EDC knife as well.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I just got the CutleryShoppe XHP PM2 exclusive and the Ayoob sprint, so that has satisfied my craving for wharnies and Cruwear for the moment.

This Yo2 variant would have been nice to get, but my wallet says otherwise.

It’s cool to see this model get the Cruwear treatment. I wish kc would shift to the more aggressive g10 and away from the smooth g10. The coarser g10 would have been a Home run on this model.

I agree with what's been said about smooth scales and the Yojimbo.

That said, the series do make good EDC's. I've carried the Yojimbo 1, 2, yojumbo and Ronin 2, all for utility rather than self defense.

Just used my Ronin 2 today to break down cardboard and slice up some of those green kitchen scrubbies to smaller size. Great utility knife that's dead simple to sharpen. Wharncliffes are the easiest blade shape to touch up and BD1/BD1N are steels that seem to want to be sharp. Love working with them.

i don't understand the complaint about smooth scales on knives with grip cutouts. the yojimbo isn't going anywhere in your hand just because the g10 is smoother than normal.

if i was in the market for another yojimbo, i'd be happy to grab this one and then customize it with aftermarket scales just for fun.

it's really a shame that this probably won't sell like other recent exclusives. i know it's not as popular, even though it's a really great design, but it's also coming out right on the heaps of so many of us spending way too much on other sprints and exclusives. that's not going to allow a fair representation of the popularity of the model.

Crujimbo! Pretty cool of knifecenter to get these made. This knife has less steel options than some other Golden models so it's nice to see. One of my favorites currently, but I have two already, so I will pass. Agree with ladybug93, due to its shape the knife ought to be easy to gripeven with smooth g10.

I have no opinion or experience with smooth G10, but a Cruwear yojimbo! I've been waiting for this for years. Cheaper than a regular S30v model too! I'm actually pretty surprised it hasn't sold out yet. I get that a lot of limited editions linger a bit longer now, but this one seemed special. I wonder if it's limited edition fatigue, the economy being not great, or if distributors are ordering more stock.

100% correct. I had this knife in the Manix version before. I actually found when the scales were a bit moist from sweating, that it actually gripped a little better...not that you really need anymore grip with a Manix anways, which I also believe would be the case with the Yojimbo as well. This knife should be just fine, smooth scales or not.

I'm just curious why the price is pretty much the same as the base Yojimbo. But MSRP is like $30 cheaper. Is it just cause it's Cruwear?

If we spent as much time trying as we do doubting, we might have already accomplished it.

Yep. it shows up now. It didn't show up the other day. Seems "behind enough" to miss some exclusives entirely.

One might think that they'd use instagram and facebook to announce these things as well.
