What types of material do you cut the most?

I'm probably leaving stuff out. With only 10 options I can't list every possible thing like drywall and carpet and such but if enough people actually cut certain things I can always edit the list to include/replace something or just vote Other.

Probably falls under food prep but I swapped it out with leather since probably not a lot of people are cutting leather all day and leather kinda falls in with skinning in a way.

Other : household construction/ project work. I will use my pocket knife for trimming timber joints & rebates, opening cartons and bags, removing tips of caulk /mastic tubes, cutting templates etc.

That truly is a tough one for me David because I encounter a wide range of materials over the course of a year. Overall I guess I would have to say "cardboard" because it seems like I'm always opening packages a lot. And then I mainly use one of my full SE companion folders for that.

That's why I'm a believer in carrying both a PE and a full SE in my daily regimen. Before my recent injury I was volunteering for a couple of places and I was cutting virtually everything you could imagine. And you guessed it in both cases I was the only one there most of the time who had a pocket knife available.

Probably biggest thing is opening boxes and packages at work. Everything from boxes to hessian/burlap sacks. Being a job that requires having to inspect stuff there is always something to open sometimes plastic on machinery and mining gear.

Surprisingly there is rarely anyone with a knife that should be doing the cutting.

(Always have a cheap knife to lend that’s not a :bug-red-white :winking-tongue )
Im a vegetarian as technically cows are made of grass and water.

food, no doubt. Spend 50-55 hours a week in the kitchen.

When it comes to pocket knives I'd say packaging. Cardboard, envelopes, plastic straps, tape etc.

Mostly cardboard, fruits or wood. I cut much more things than I need to :smirk

Food, cardboard, paper, plastic, vines/leaves/wood. Maybe this is weird, but I don’t think I cut anything else.

Fish and game. Probably 95%+ of my knife use is cleaning fish. I might spend 20 minutes a day cleaning fish, maybe a minute a day on food prep, and probably less than a minute a week on anything else.

Lol, that sounds familiar!

Besides the aforementioned mandatory sharpness testing, I use my Hawkbill a lot in the Garden Center. Opening packages, but mostly pruning off broken limbs from plants, deadheading, etc. My K390 Endela gets used a ton in an Office setting, so, opening food items, slicing said food, opening a few items, cutting tape, zip ties, whatever the need may be. My DF2, gets used in polite company, mostly for food and light duty stuff in front of the squeamish!

Rope varying from tiny to 4-5 inches, depending on where I'm working and what I'm doing. Food prep and small rope when I'm at home, along with some woodwork and fishing and such. About 10% is random stuff like zip ties, packaging, etc.

Don't tell anyone but I actually use scissors for a lot of stuff when I'm at home, and I often carry some small fishing forceps that include a scissor blade.

It seems unlikley to happen but now that I'm thinking about it some Spyderco Salt Scissors would be pretty handy. :thinking
