New smock issue

#1

Post by MightyQ »

Hey guys I recently purchased a new cf smock and it is very very hard to open, it’s almost painful on my finger and then it flies open full force. I’ve owned a couple smocks and none have been like this. So I don’t think it’s common. My question is should I disassemble it and mess with something? Or send it in for warranty?

Thanks so much!

Sounds like one of the detents are sitting too deep in the hole. Warranty likely won't help you, I'd return it. Or try taking out the 2nd detent if you cannot return it.

Try a tiny bit of oil in the detent before you do anything. Also note, the Taiwan factory has done CQI on the detents of their knives due to them being too soft in the past. Possibly that is the difference you are feeling?

Compressed Air to blow out any debris. Then some good pivot oil.
