H-2 vs. H-1
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
SFO had the Pacific Salt H2, Black SE.
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
The Autonomy Sheepsfoot Automatics still show as having H-1 steel in the 2023 Product Guide.

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
Dear RamZar:
That is correct. The Autonomy will remain H-1 until our supply of H-1 in the US is exhausted. Shipping hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds of steel halfway across the world is a commitment. When we stocked up on H-1 for use in the Autonomy, we tried to think ahead.
Stay safe,
Mike

i know it's still early, but does anyone have any h2 experience to share yet?

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
Some of you are over thinking this. If spyderco uses h2, im sure it will be excellent. Spyderco is not in the economy steel business. Some people do need the corrosion resistance of h1 on land. As a guy who cannot carry ruger handguns due to them rusting from body sweat will in a holster, I am fond of h1 knives. Even a sub par steel can be made good by a quality heat treat.look at the buck 110 in 440. Its 440 but it stillis a decent blade.

if i wasn't an overthinker, i doubt i'd be on a forum where i can obsess about the details of pocket knives.

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
I’ve been hoping for some field reports on H2 as well…
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
Right... I expect that their will be practically no difference between "1" and "2", but I´d also hope to see that confirmed...
(No need for an H1 / H2 knife for right now, so I can´t do that myself... wait, a Dfly Salt SE begins to intrigue me ... but I think the ones available are still all in H1 (not "2")?)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
This DF2 is H2, as is this PE Tasman. The Tasman came receipt paper slicing sharp, as did the DF2. I've used the Tasman some and so far so good. It was much sharper than the VG10 'lil matriarch when I received it. I really wanted a Black Tasman SE in H2 as well for work, but it wasn't available at the time.
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
I'm just waiting for it to come in a knife I actually want and not just a purchase strictly for testing purposes.
All SE all the time since 2017

I haven't done any scientific testing but my one and only H2 SE Pacific hasn't seemed any different than the same knife in H1.

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
I seem to be guilty of not reporting back, sorry everyone! Much like RevMike I haven't done any scientific testing, but in use I haven't seen any discernable difference between my H2 SE Atlantic Salt and the H1 variety. It slipped my mind because there wasn't much to report. Anyone else?

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
Some of us assumed H2 wouldn't be as wonderful, so we want to be assured otherwise.
Re: H-2 vs. H-1
If I didn't already own over 20 Pacific Salts, I'd have ordered one of these to put through some testing. But at some point you have to accept that a lifetime supply of an object is sufficient
