… on my ear!

Yep. Just like the gag where someone gets a phone call whilst ironing laundry, I am that guy!, now sporting a cut ear because I was fiddling with my Ikuchi when answering the phone.

No, I am not going to post a photo, but do feel free to mock!

Tsk… what an eejit!

Twice I have dropped a knife on my leg point first, both were small puncture wounds but the second hit my shin. That second one soaked my sock and the top of my boot in blood in the time that it took to pick the knife up and close it and pull my pant leg up to look at it. It stopped pretty quickly with some pressure but it had me scared for a minute.

My boss gifted me a serrated Harpy this past Christmas, within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box I somehow let it snap shut (strong detent) on my left hand middle finger...."well, it's mine now!"

Stupid here, I'm right handed and was working at my desk but I was playing with it with my left hand and only paying attention to the work I was doing, lesson learned! A brand new serrated Spyderco out of the box demands your attention!

In one of the episodes of the first season of Chicago PD, the Hank Voight character threatens to cut off the ear of a bad guy during interrogation, and even draws some blood. IIRC, Voight's knife was a combo-edge, saber-ground Endura 4.

Yeeouch. I've been close to doing that very thing myself. More recently, I've been getting "stupid cuts" from working with end mills. No matter how cautious I am, those little guys seem to find a way nick one of my fingers at least once a week. :smirk

Just cut myself with a butter knife...
Sandwiched it in a sponge and pulled it back and forth. Hack sawed a knuckle.

yeah. i basically stopped carrying bandaids in my first aid kit altogether. usually, if you only need a bandaid, you don't need anything. now i carry butterfly bandages, superglue, some gauze, and tape in case of accidental cuts.

Liquid Bandage works pretty well for small, minor cuts, but interestingly (in my experience) it doesn't work so well on the fingers, where it comes off too easily, especially when hand washing.

i was cooking in japan once and cut my thumb into the nail. it wasn't really all that bad, but it needed to be addressed and i didn't want to go to a doctor while overseas. i went down to the family mart (convenience store) on the corner and bought some super glue. it worked like a charm. i don't even have a scar.

OK, OK let's just ease up a bit please!! Because if they truly handed out awards and medals for being stupid and cutting myself I would have more medals on my chest than the late dictator "Idi Amin" used to have on display. It seems like it's rather difficult for me to go over 2 months without at least a minor cut of some sort.

Oh I guess I could use the excuse that I keep my blades much sharper than the average knife user>> but that would be nothing but a play on words. Yes I've been known to get careless at times or to get in a hurry with food prep jobs especially. I have to go all the way back to 2006 for the last time I had a cut that you could say was actually borderline serious. But I was working for a retired Doctor when that happened and had immediate medical help at the scene of the accident. Most of the cuts I've sustained are minor but annoying none the less. So please don't feel bad.
