I've noticed there are a few Sprint run M2LW versions...how does one go about getting a heads up on these? Do you sign up for emails from the various sellers or just luck onto them? I see them but they're always sold out.
Just one more, please.

Sprint Runs and Exclusives are often one offs. Once there gone there gone. Some come back. You can find them on the secondary market, but prices are obviously higher. The other helpful thing is to keep an eye out on this forum. If a sprint or exclusive is announced, you will see talk of it here and you can plan on being ready when it is available. Some sell out very fast. Like within hours depending on the model and materials.

***Edit - I believe Sprints are always one offs never to be duplicated. Some exclusives are one offs and some dealers repeat.

you can also follow the dealers that commonly have exclusives on instagram and facebook. they like to post hints leading up to a release. that and keeping an eye out here on the new releases thread is the best way to stay on top of it.

i actually joined this forum a few of years ago because of ramzar's release thread. it's been passed on to buddafucco now.

A few years ago Cold Steel posted a series of videos where they torture tested other manufacturer's knives. I am pretty sure the Manix was the ONLY knife they tested (other than a few Cold Steel models) to survive every test. The final step was using a hydraulic jack to induce failure, and the Manix held more weight than any other knife (except for a few Cold Steel models). Even the Cold Steel guy doing the test had good things to say about the Manix.

While none of the testing represented anything I would ever do to a knife, I came away with the impression that the Manix locking system was absolutely bombproof. In use, I have fount the Manix to be very easy to operate and one of my favorite knives.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. However, you do owe me for the money I just spent buying that white Native 5 exclusive from GPKnives! :cheap-sunglasses

I think I'm gonna wait and see if they put up a Sprint Run or a nice Exclusive on the M2LW. I would like to have something a little unique if possible.

Manix LW and G10 are two of my very favorites. Great blade size and shape for 99% of my EDC tasks. A little chunky in the pocket, but I've never had an issue as my primary folder gets it's own pocket. The lock does take a bit of muscle memory to master, but gets easier quickly. Stay at it. Action also gets noticeably better with a little use/fidgeting.

Funny you mention the fidget factor. I used to never fidget my knives, but then bought a BM Bugout Mini and had to get used to opening it due to the small thumb studs. Now it seems I fidget every knife I carry. :thinking

I managed to borrow my father's set-up. Surexposition didn't do the full trick, so some tinkering with the colors was needed.
Here's the closest to what a Manix 2 LW in SPY27 looks like in reality :

:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Thx for the detail pic Ramonade. I love the color but it was indeed strange to see the many color differences between the websites.

We should settle this controversy once and for all.

Ramonade nailed it. This thread should be renamed "What the heck color is that? Some time with the Manix 2 LW SPY27"

this is all we really need to know about this color:
Michael Janich wrote:

Hey, LC200DAN:

The Manix 2 Lightweight SPY27 is a slightly different color than the cobalt blue of the Para 3 or Native 5 Lightweight. The latter two have handles made from FRN--fiberglass reinforced nylon. We worked with the company that molds the handles to achieve that color. The handles of all Manix 2 Lightweights are FRCP--fiberglass-reinforced co-polymer. Although we tried to achieve the same cobalt blue color in that material, we could not color match the FRCP to the FRN. The closest we could get in FRCP is the current handle material, which we have named "mineral" blue.

Stay safe,

Mike
although, after searching for this thread and finally finding it, i can see why there's debate. it didn't get much attention when it was posted. looks like most people missed it or forgot about it.
