Build your own dream Spyderco
Build your own dream Spyderco
Rules:
1. It has to be based on an existing model, current or historical. Anything from the C01 Worker onwards.
2. You can designate the materials, including blade steels and handle materials/inlays.
3. You can designate the grind type and serrations (if any).
4. You can choose the clip type and position.
I’ll go first: My dream knife given these parameters would be a C25 Frank Centofante (first gen) in Magnacut steel, a titanium body with Westinghouse micarta inlays, plain edge (full flat ground), a wire clip, tip-up right hand carry.

Re: Build your own dream Spyderco
This is fun.
In my dreams i want a c95 Original manix lockback made in golden.
With the full steel liners so it makes the Manix the bomb proof knife it should be.
It would have a cpm-s90v plain edge blade , The dark forrest green g10 handle like the pm2 s45vn sprint run. A stonewashed hourglass clip.
And a pivot screw like the original Rubicon but the ring around the screw should be bigger and made of CF. And just for fun it would come in the leather pouch with our forum names on the pouch

My dream would be a stonewashed magnacut kapara with forest green micarta. I think that’s what it would take to displace my regular kapara with the RGT python micarta scales I put on it.

Re: Build your own dream Spyderco
C83 Schempp Persian, bolstered like the original, with a full flat ground plain edged Odin's Eye Damasteel blade with a 14mm Spyderhole, a matching Odin's Eye lockbar with no Boye dent, mammoth ivory scales with mosaic pins, and no provision for a pocket clip.
Alternately, a straight spined Stretch the size of the original SS/Kraton Stretch, with a bolstered handle like the prototype I have, and all other specs the same as above.

Re: Build your own dream Spyderco
This blade change on an Autonomy 1, in MagnaCut (assuming it plays nice with SE, if not then LC200N or H1), non DLC, and I think I'd like some peel ply carbon fiber on the handle. I also think I'd like it changed over to a standard hourglass clip, I haven't really had any issues with the wire clip keeping it in my pocket but for a knife of this weight I'd just feel better with an hourglass clip, and let's make it raw titanium and non deep carry (makes it easier to get out of my pocket with work gloves on).
The more I use the Autonomy, and the more other models I compare it to, the more I think it may just be The One for me, I'd just like a bit more versatile blade shape in the Autonomy 1 handle.

My dream Spyderco is a larger and manual version of the Embassy.
Something about the blade shape of the Embassy that calls to me. Plus I've found the Embassy to be the best knife I own to open and tear down boxes. Now we just need a manual opening version that I affectionately call The Ambassador!

Re: Build your own dream Spyderco
I’m sure it is, DLT has been inevitably heading in that direction. I just hope it’s a regular Ladybug blade shape and not a hawkbill.
To that point, I’d love to see some “mushroom” Zome FRN handles! Red scales with white dots, model doesn’t matter.

I wouldn’t turn it down with a liner lock but I am really partial to the compression lock. Especially since I put micarta on it. It was a little slippery with the carbon fiber.JSumm wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 4:32 amAdd a linerlock and you may have just made my dream spydie.Urkilnmesmalls wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 4:27 amMy dream would be a stonewashed magnacut kapara with forest green micarta. Up coming Lil Yojimbo, FFG Cruwear and Back lock
Original Green Lil Temp leaf and Rhino. Better pocket clip like a PM2, would prefer a back lock as well. Keep it green

Pretty easy! Para 3 LT Salt. Gimme yellow FRN and DLC to offset, throw any salt steel in there, give it teeth. Done.

Plain Edge Hawkbill Dragonfly
Teal G-10
K390
DLC Blade and Hardware
Chisel Edge
I want the chisel edge so I can keep an acute edge angle with the Sharpmaker. It's hard to sharpen small hawkbills on other systems, and I like K390 around 12DPS.

Yeah, I need to one day pull the trigger on Micarta for mine. I think that would help a lot. The linerlock would help with the current beautiful but slippery scales.Urkilnmesmalls wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:57 amI wouldn’t turn it down with a liner lock but I am really partial to the compression lock.
