Slight mod to 20CV Delica Wharncliffe
Based on my curiosity about reducing the blade length on another knife I experimented with changing the profile of the spine on my 20CV Delica Wharncliffe. I am actually pleased with the results. Pro tip to anyone looking to mod a blade by hand with no power tools, 80 grit sandpaper works much better than an extra coarse DMT stone. I finished up at 180 grit and then used fine white rods to chamfer the spine. I may yet change the profile a bit, but I’ve stuck it in my pocket for now.

I wonder how my 80 grit diamond stone would work. Looks good!

Nice work Soanso,
That is a properly committed modification, really makes it your own.

It would be great to see a photo of it closed if you have one.

I like it! I may try that on my Rock Jumper.

Thanks folks! I can still remove some more material to make the effect more dramatic, and at some point I will. I like the new shape quite a bit.

Looks like you did a good job with it, and learned some things in the process.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I think I spent something like 3 hours on it! It had just been sitting on a stand on a book shelf with my other knives I don’t carry often, but this gave it some new allure for me. It will be seeing some more pocket time now.ykspydiefan wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 12:11 amNice work Soanso,

No problem. I don’t know why my pictures post sideways, but if you click the picture it is right side up. Makes it easier to see the difference to my eye.

Re: Slight mod to 20CV Delica Wharncliffe
I went and grabbed some 60 grit sandpaper and finished the job. I’m happy with where it is now. Here it is next to a standard Delica and a Wharncliffe (Salt) Delica. The modded Delica is in the middle.

Nice job! Did you use a block, or lay the paper flat on a hard surface?

The lock on this sucker is rock solid. I was putting a lot of pressure on the spine at times.
