Why does my Spyderco have this huge hole in the blade? It’s just stupid, seems like it would be a weak spot on the spine if I were to hit it right there with a hammer! Do you think if I put a correct size bolt though the hole with a locknut it would make it stronger there? Like a homemade thumb stud….

I’m stumped…what to do? :thinking

yeah. i'm not sure why there hasn't been any visible moderation. it would be nice for moderators to speak to this guy and try to figure out the deal and/or remind people that personal attacks and making fun aren't what this place is about either.

Lets see it isn't a prybar and it isn't a chisel and functions quite well for it's intended purpose with the hole. Might be this worry is a bit superfluous.

Crap I found holes in my blades after seeing this thread. There's little holes in scales on about half of my Spydies too! Should I call Spyderco? :thinking

How else do you make wavy hotdogs? 🤔

No, I don't think that's what Sal is saying at all. He's saying that you can use your Manix as a cup.

I like your bolt idea. What would that be, a half-inch bolt? Would give your knife some real "gravitas."

I tried this morning with my breakfast sausage. The result was... unsightly.

Surely you've noticed the decline in mom and pop butcher shops....that's all Spyderco's fault. Their dang thumb hole has absolutely cornered the hotdog skinning market. Why do you think they had a patent on the ROUND hole? You ever seen an oval shaped hotdog? You know why nobody has ever copied the byrd comet hole? Try smashing a hotdog through that thing.

Seriously the only reason I even own more than one knife is because they make them in so many convenient sizes. The best part is, if you line the holes up from biggest to smallest you can also make a hotdog reducer. Nobody likes it when their hotdog bun breaks in half at the bottom...boom, problem solved. I've been reducing hotdogs for years. Can't count how many bun lives I've saved, how many mustard drip shirt stains I've avoided.
