i really don't want another m2lw, but i'll be happy to buy it if it has screws. with screws, i can at least do a blade swap for a g10 model. i wish they'd just produce these new steels in both versions. it's not like they won't sell.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

To each their own. I think jimping is entirely unnecessary on the Lil Native. I would be incredibly disappointed if every Lil Native model were to get jimping.
I could take or leave the jimping on the Lil’ Native but always thought it was strange the way the liners have two or three of them and the blade has none.

Either way will purchase a LW version as soon as they’re available in a non-black/S-30V configuration. Could be my go-to for hot and humid days in the city.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

To each his or her own. The wharncliffe is beautiful! I’d buy a wharncliffe Lil Native in a heartbeat.

Now that it's here - and from the left field at that, definitely surprising - I can't wait for this one to go out!

Thank you Sal and Eric, that was a pleasant surprise! :smiling-heart-eyes :smiling-heart-eyes :smiling-heart-eyes
I’m warming up to it but I still think it’s goofy looking. Although that is part of the charm that’s beginning to convince me it’s not as ugly as I first thought. LOL :rofl

I think a small swedge, like the one on the Lum Chinese folder would look cool on the Lil Native wharnie.

Funny enough, the Lil Native blade actually does have jimping. It’s a small section with three “jimps.” :grin-squint When the blade is open they nest into the handle between the liners though. The liners have a small sections of jimping as well, they’re about 3/8” long.

Don’t get me wrong, the jimping on the LW won’t deter me, I’ll be getting a Lil Native LW as soon as they’re available! I just really love the Lil Native without jimping, and would be bummed if that were to change across the entire line.

The main reason I prefer the Lil Native without jimping is because it’s one of my favorite knives for using at work. I can use the Lil Native for longer periods of time without developing a hotspot than I can use knives with jimping. I don’t even bother carrying the Dragonfly to work anymore because I get such bad hotspots from the jimping.

I like to think that the LC200N blades in the Lil Native Benshot glasses were a precursor to an inevitable Lil Native Salt. That could be perfect for a hot and humid city knife.

You are, of course, correct! 🤦🏽‍♂️

Looks like I need to give my Lil’ Native some pocket time. Will dig it out of the ol’ sock drawer and carry it for the rest of the week to get reacquainted… then see how I feel about buying a wharncliffe version.

I'm really hyped up for this. :smiling-hearts

It really touched all the bases on what I wanted from a LN Wharnie, like keeping it Compression lock and all. I like the blade curvature because of the short blade, it avoids the "toucan beak" look from the longer Wharnies like the Endura/Endela and the PM2. It's just what I had imagined and then some. (edit: plus, it doesn't add up anymore unnecessary width - just minimal - to the folded knife itself which is a huge plus!)

Plus the overall look itself really sets it apart from being just an undersized Native - it's like a whole new pocketknife itself!

searched everywhere I could and no Millie 2 pics today. Hopefully tomorrow.

Been following the development of this model since I joined the forum! Rumors of it in the 2000's were one of the reasons I signed up, in fact. Wild to think I might get to see one within 24 hours!

Hopefully if it actually lives up to the hype, it may revolutionize the landscape for mid-range (priced) large folders, the way the PM2 improved in every way the PM and changed the market for mid-range middle-sized folders forever. Big think right there, but who knows? Maybe it will happen or it will not.

Since people, though there have been quite some threads/posts on this lately, still and repeatedly discuss (which I find just fine, don´t get me wrong!!) how good the Millie changes probably are for them, I think it is ok to also weigh in in the same way once more with a different view on this. Because now that this knife is officially called "Military 2" I can´t help to be a bit worried about the remaining of the "1" in the line up in the long run, though I know Sal confirmed it would.

- For me (and, as the discussions have shown, not only me, the comp. lock is certainly not an improvement on this particular knife, but rather the opposite
- I really happen to like the more "minimal" choil of the Millie, despite my hands/fingers are not exactly small. Gives me more control than the PM2 choil, and eats up only little cutting edge.
- Four way clip would be fine, cause some more tiny holes in the handle change nothing for me (especially not on the handle end for tip up)

If changes like different lock, pm2-ish choil will be really implementet in their entirety, for me this will definitely be more a "PM4" than a Millie 2. Starting already with the different ergos and feel in hand a comp.lock gives.

Just my 2c, and I have no intention to actually discuss this once more ;)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

For some reason, I just really warmed up to the lil native, especially the wharnie, slipjoint, and lightweight versions shown. Those three versions were like some boxing combo that I think have finally sent me to the dark side or something lmao.
I think the rest of the new stuff looks really solid too, but there’s more I’m looking forward to see covered now!

i missed that the lil native lw is going to have a thinner blade stock. that's pretty sweet.

Hmmm. The Lil Native LW sure looks poised to knock off the DFly 2 from its pedestal. Interesting. I'm actually glad that they did not just do a straight G-10 to FRN conversion like the Native 5. It's a category all in itself and sets it apart from the G10 LNs. I like the strategy.

Big week for Spyderco. Can't wait for the Milie 2 and the pm2 LW.

Regarding the Lil Native lightweight :

I'm sad it doesn't have a comp lock version. I doubt it will come because it would be a difficult task to cramp a comp lock on a small LW model and I doubt the Lil Native is selling well enough to justify the R&D for a comp lock model. In the end, it's just an inferior Dragonfly 2 for me.

Nah I doubt it. The dragonfly 2 still has that golden form factor. With a comp lock and FRN, it would have been a different story.

Nice to see jimping on the Lil Native LW!! The lack thereof was a huge letdown on the G10 version. If only it had a boye dent...
To each their own. I think jimping is entirely unnecessary on the Lil Native. I would be incredibly disappointed if every Lil Native model were to get jimping.
It's interesting and not the first time I'm reading it. Why do some think jimping isn't needed on the Lil native ?

Idk about that knife in particular, but I’ll go as far to say I don’t need jimping on any knife.
I won’t deny the textural function, but I’m comfortable and confident using a jimp-less knife.
Admittedly, there are times where I might come to like that feature on some knives, but the opposite is also true, where I appreciate the lack of it.
Now I don’t really care whether it’s there or not on the native family, so I can’t say I know why one would necessarily be opposed the addition of jimping in this case.

Edit: same goes for the Boye dent, in my opinion.
