GP is sold out. Just pulled the trigger on one from Cutlery Shoppe. The Native is my favorite Spyderco, so might as well get the pinnacle version while I can.

I think those scales with black hardware and a DLC blade would look pretty awesome!

A Blacked Out version with Black DLC blade and black coated hardware and clip would be nice!

Hope this will hit the EU sooner rather than later - no signs yet.

edit: they just appeared at knivesandtools! :smlling-eyes
That appearance was a bit too short to match up with my intermittent online presence.
I'm still undecided, so maybe it's a good thing. Limited availability / FOMO is never the ideal circumstance for a independent and rational evaluation process.

I agree. I placed my original order in september of 2020 and I probably wanted it for a few months before that - that's enough time to mull it over.
Only after a local shop failed to deliver for that long I took things into my own hand.

For those who received one from the new batch, how is the overall build? If you owned a previous version even or handled one, has Spyderco maintained the build quality of the earlier version that was raved about? As I go through my list of knives that I feel like I have missed out on this is one of the few that still holds my interest.

I can't see any flaws anywhere. No blade play, perfect lock-up. Centered and shaving sharp blade. After unboxing, the action was like my Rex45 G-10 Native. Then I applied some lightweight oil and worked it in, fidgeted with it. The action moved towards Fluted Ti Native territory. Almost there, but not quite.
Slicing through an apple, compared to a large Sebenza is also almost there.

The weight is just 10 grams less than a G10 version, barely perceptible.

I am too afraid to wear this with a pocket clip, so I took it off, no problems. Just nicer without the clip.

Mine was flawless, and so happy I pulled the trigger this time around. I worried that they wouldn’t do another batch and it get discontinued.

A few things thought: the Native’s 5 smaller size always surprises me, and the flutes aren’t as deep as I imagined. I might try this one clipless too.

I was answering “jdw wrote:

Blade centering is a part of overall build right?

Killing two birds with one stone on this thread!

Mine seems flawless as well. I'm always amazed at the rock solid lock up on these. Golden makes the best back lock amongst the entire Spyderco line up. I'm a huge fan of the N5 and with the sculpting on the CF version, it takes the knife to a whole new level. Waiting on my Lynch clip.

This thread is going to be bad news for me. I've got 2 empty spots on my display stands for my rotation! I tell myself that KW exclusive Military fills those needs....but that fluted is so nice and rare.

I keep looking at this when I shouldn't. Had I not just bought that Military, I would have caved and got this for sure. Even despite that cost increase. I've never heard a single bad comment about this knife. I think those scales with black hardware and a DLC blade would look pretty awesome for anybody with the ability to do that swap!

Something like this? Unfortunately, the DLC backspacer sat too proud above the fluted CF scales, driving my OCD crazy. My fluted CF N5 carries my Maxamet blade these days, perfect fit (and S90V in the fluted Ti). And for anyone wondering about the CF clip, it’s from Aramis Akhmedov and highly recommended.
