So far mine has done a good job at brightening my day and I'm sure yours will too!
It's definitely fancier than I am and I don't work in the cleanest of environments... slightly nervous I'm going to grab it with dirty hands. :grimace But I'm sure I'll get past that newness stage.

Congrats! Looks awesome, and can’t wait for mine. How do the scales feel? Do you think they could be polished more? Is the blade polished as well?

Does the lock tention on yours when closed seem kind of weak? I'm thinking about sending the one I got back.

I decided to send it back. It just wasn't right. The knife would sit open a few millimeters, and there was blade play when closed, the spring tension should hold it firmly closed with no 'wiggle'. I compared it to my other Urban to make sure it wasn't my imagination, the other one closed firmly.

Ordered another one from Fradon. Hopefully second time is a charm. I have not had good luck with Urbans from Maniago. My last one (aebl) needed the nub on the ricasso filed down so the knife would close completely, and there was a spot on the round hole sharp enough to cut me. On an $80 knife, I was willing to just fix it and use it, and a $300 knife I want it right. Unless my replacement is immaculate, I think this is the last Maniago knife I'm ever going to buy. With shipping and tax sending the other one back and getting the replacement this just cost me another $40 to replace.

Anyways, I want this to be good because I want more Damasteel knives. The steel is absolutely beautiful. So fingers crossed.

I would consider it to have a smooth peel-ply matte finish on the handle and if i scrape it with my nail I can feel the texture. I have the KnifeJoy 20cv Smock which has polished G-10 scales that are buttery slick, smooth and shiny. I don't see why the Urban G-10 couldn't be polished to that level if you were inclined. I can feel the layered texture of the blade with my nail also and it could probably be shined up a little more, but I'm just not sure what effect (or detriment) that would have on the contrasting steels.

So no one else having up and down blade play in the closed position?

Glad you got one Superfool. This run probably wouldn't have happened without you.

Mine feels very comparable to both of my K390 Dragonfly's when closed and tighter than my, very used, Chaparral. I'm not really sure what i read that subliminally affected my expectations, but i was not really expecting it to be as well made as it is. The entire action on mine is impressive... I would use "stellar" to describe it. It's solid when closed, but easy to open... solid when open and takes just a little extra "umph" to break that detent from open. I'm sorry to hear yours wasn't the same.

No.
Mine is solid as a rock. It's really lovely.
Send it back; you must have a lemon.

Thanks. I hope everyone is really happy with these. Honestly, if you like the Urban or even the UKPK, you would be regretting letting these go past.

Im glad that your and Superfools were fine. Just bad luck then. I'm sure my replacement will be good. I'm excited to get it back in hand, it is a gorgeous knife.
