Offer it with exchangeable SS and kraton insert clips.

Texturing near the thumb hole and hear the tip (like the impala).

FRN w/ metal clip.

Perhaps offer it with a kydex sheath as well.

Marlinspike. (oops how did that get in here?) Actually I'd like to see a spydie w/ a marlinspike. Rescue or Harpy would be better choices than a hunting knife.

Update Pro-Grip; 3.5" blade, full flat grind, VG-10, with a 3-D FRN handle (similar to Native III) and name "Pro-Hunter"

3.5-3.75" blade. G-10 handles and a linerlock, framelock, or compressionlock. Perfect.

Sal, pro-grip very good knife overall, think it needs ribs like the jesters' on the back of the blade, not sure about the bigger size personally I think its the perfect size for carrying in your back pocket. All it needs in my opinion is a stainless clip forget the rubber lined clip it wears out and isn't that easy to insert in your pocket. Long live the pro-grip!!!!!!!! I'm going to stock up before they are all gone for good!

I dunno if this thread is done for but I just got the Pro-Grip Lightweight and would hate to see it disappear!

Love the size and proportions. 3 inches sounds nice but only if the general shape can be kept true to. Otherwise, no point in changing perfection

IMHO As strong a lock as possible, without using a compression lock, would be good. Keeping it available in PE as much as CE would also definately be appreciated. The handle design is fine, lose the unpopular Kraton but keep the texture pattern in FRN/e.t.c. It is a really nice touch that I appreciate in my Calypso and Native. Otherwise, G-10 with G-10 shell to replace the Kraton would be another way to go.

A fractionally sharper tip and S30V would make it just about perfect. Hollow ground with that drop point, it would go anywhere

Hello Sal

A slightly larger Pro-Grip sounds great! I would have a 3.75" plain edge blade with a slightly longer "thumb rest area" with some grooves for added grip. The handle, if longer, would fit my large hands better.

If G-10 could be contoured in some way like FRN, 3-D g-10 scales would be incredible. A wire pocket clip provides an easy clean option.

I like the name Pro-Hunter!

Regards Ken

Howzit Sal!

I wouldn't go any bigger than 3.5". For both EDC and Hunting, it will have more than enough blade... For both veteran, beginning hunters AND for EDC use.

I second the flat grind. A more responsive edge configuration, especially when "steering" the knife.

Ambi-clip. My friend the Deacon would appreciate it!

If you could make it like a "big Jester" w/ all the Jester features w/ a flat grind, that'd be cool. In fact, I'm still considering on getting a Pro and modifying it to be a Large Jester.

I love AUS8. Period. BUT-So far, VG-10 has been surviving Hawaii quite well.

I'd say something about "another" feature, but can't yet...LOL!

God Bless,
Chad

I'm finding the 3" range is more than enough for most of my edc uses. Any bigger and I usually have either my 6.5" cleaver or 5.5" chef's within reach.

I was looking at getting a Pro-Ven a couple months ago, now I'm waiting for an update. How about no kraton insert in the clip, PE option, tip down, 4mm vg-10 flat grind? Combine the best of the jester and the calypso jr in one.

Sal, as an avid hunter I have very biased opinions on the Pro Grip & the Pro vent.
I like the VG-10 as a hunters steel choice, the finer grain seems to glide through flesh and sinew.
The overall blade shape is damned near perfect for outdoor use 3.5 would be about right.
Flat grind I LOVE on EDC knives, I used to feel the hollow grind worked better on hunting use but after much testing on both styles I honestly can't tell a big difference between the 2, in short the F/F grind would appeal to the mass market more IMO.
PLEASE keep the original blade shape overall along with the Wegner this is the most useful shape I've seen on a folder for hunting use.
The lower point works great for field dressing chores yet leaves enough belly for skinning.
I 2nd Ted's suggestion on the compression lock idea, I find it feels more secure to me than the Wegner liner lock.
The open spine is also much eaier to clean.

The only draw backs to the original design that I have any problems with is as many have stated above the clip.
SS ambi screw in clip would work for me.

Scales- IMO this model would need dual liners which should appeal to the MBC crowd as well.
G-10 heavily textured slabs round off the sharp corners, this would be grippy when wet and covered in slime.
The 3D might be too hard to clean in camp.
Adding blade ramp grooves sounds like a good idea also.
I as a hunter would like a high visibility color avalible in the G-10, sometimes black is hard to find in the dark wet leaves of our fall season although blaze orange wouldn't work for the M/M ELU.
Some would like the camo effect such as the scales on the B/M Ares folders, something to think about in limited runs.
As an EDC Ti liners would decrease the bulk to weight ratio some.
On my hunting blades I like a lanyard, maybe I'm paranoid but having it attached to my wrist just feels more secure, and I say this to vote for tip up carry IMO it's a PIA to attach a useful lanyard and the stuff it all in my pocket on tip down knives.

I agree it's time for an update of this which is already 1 of my favorites. Ron

Open spine and Ti liners do sound good...

I'm from the EDC 1st, hunting 2nd perspective. I prefer the current size frankly, BUT if the blade stays the same shape and proportions: I'm in
