Love me a wharnie, but something about a PM2 wharnie just looks a little strange to me for some reason. I want to like it, but I'm not quite there yet.
A PM2 wharncliffe is intriguing and I was on the fence until I saw this little paragraph on the Cutlery Shoppe Page that hints this will show up in different steels. I will wait now and see what shows up. That's just not an attractive price for S30V when their last 2 Rex PM2s cost less.

I think the price may reflect in part of the DLC coating ? Just a guess on my part . Dan

Yes the wording is the same as the first Wharnie release in plain blade . For some reason Cutlery Shoppe releases more regular blade PM2 models as opposed to a Wharnie . If they hold the pattern of exclusives we may only see a Wharnie once a year . I hope I am wrong in that assumption. Dan

I haven't seen or heard of any reviews of the Police 4 Lightweight serrated K390 yet, but is it possible that they ran into customer complaints with the serrations? I remember Eric talking about how it's so rare to see high hardness steels such as K390 in serrated blades because the tend to chip. Most of the Spyderco K390 knives coming from Seki that I've seen hardness tested come out around 64-66. That's pretty hard to put on teeth.

Maybe someone who owns one could chime in?

I don’t want to derail this thread too much but for what it’s worth, my Police 4 Lightweight serrated K390 is an excellent knife. I have been carrying it almost daily in my left pocket along with a Military in my right.

The serrated K390 is doing extremely well with all kinds of different EDC tasks of mine. Rope, feed bags, zip ties, rubber hose, cutting up boxes, etc. In my experience, it sharpens nicely on the Sharpmaker, gets very sharp and holds the sharpness for a long time. I am extremely pleased with the knife AND the steel. In fact, I mentioned in another thread that I am enjoying the knife so much, I’m now wishing for more models in serrated K390. I should mention, I also have the plain edge, K390 version but I almost always reach for the serrated.

I’m sure anything is possible as far as customer issues but I have used the knife relatively hard with zero issues. No chipping, rolling, or any other problems so far.

How well did it fare with the rubber hose? My PE K390 Endura actually got dull after a few hours of yard work cutting rubber hoses.
