I have Natives both thinner and thicker behind the edge than the Manix I have - mostly thinner. It just depends on how thin the blade stock was ground before the final edge bevel was done.

Does anyone have a status update on this??? I'd really like to know. Most companies are starting to integrate magnacut in their best selling models. Spyderco hasn't done this yet outside of the UK Pen Knife and Native 5. Please reply with specifics as to this release if possible!! Thank you!!

Unless Spyderco decides to break from their typical course of action, we will not know anything about the release of this knife until it is included in a Reveal catalog.

What we know is that they have been displaying a prototype at different trade shows and the knife is in development.

Patience.

I have to reluctantly agree . Displaying at shows is a good indicator but until it is in a Reveal we will still have a waiting period . Thread is a good sign that sales will be very good and happy buyers . MG2

the original quote from sal was in june 2021. iirc, in two years, the only "update" we've had was that it was mentioned in one of the show interview videos about a year ago. i keep asking, but only crickets for answers.

I hope you will get you’re reply soon. You have bin patient enough already.
But i still think new spydies or even variants of spydies released before the end of the year will be a rare sight that was wat i made out of Eric’s words on the amsterdam meet back in March.

as vocal as i am about the many things i like about spyderco, i've also been pretty vocal about a few things i don't like (it is a discussion forum after all). anyway, i have a suspicion that i've lost favor with certain people over some of those opinions and that might be part of the reason there are no answers here. some people, who are more willing to kiss the ring, seem to get the responses they are seeking more readily.

I don’t think you have lost favor LB , Spyderco just doesn’t have the information to reliably release on the Forum a timeline . I firmly believe you as many are a valued member on the Forum . I am prepared though … I’ve got a Yellow flyswatter set back ! Dan

Sorry to hear that. Well i hope its not the case but if it would be well its not such a big surprise i guess , the people of spyderco are still people and well in the end we all have our faults…
That is why i dislike the god complex some people here have over Sal. I met the man and he is a really great guy but cool down people he is still just from flesh and blood like the rest of us.
And honestly even if he is more knowledgeable that doesn’t mean everyone should alter there opinion to match his or get canceled . That would be a sad thing. But swat going way off topic here.

I guess the magnacut blades are probably the problem and the reason why they’re not out yet.
Spyderco probably can not have enough of the steel at the moment, all the other parts of the knife are basically easy to get for them. At least i would think yellow frcp would be not harder to get then black or blue. And all other stuff in there is the usual so i think they have stock enough of those things. But god nows how many Native and pm blades they can make with the melts they buy so getting a ton off Manix blades out there aswel maybe to much.
Wonder how many times Golden gets a melt a year. Since the popularity of magnacut it could be less then we are hoping. :flushed

Production capacity is probably the last hurdle for Spyderco to get this in production. They are working to solving it, but like many things these days, the timetable is fairly open-ended.

I'm fairly certain I've heard or when talking to Eric at Blade that Shawn Houston and Dr. Larrin Thomas are working together leading the charge on the heat treatment of the magnacut. If this is true, it will be stellar!! :star-struck

Interesting. I’ve only been here for about 4 months, but have felt these vibes on Spyderco and wondered if everyone just “kissed the ring” and wore Spydie underwear. I’ve bought 9 knives in 4 months but I see some things in Spyderco that bug me.

Some great knives, though…and, if made, I’d be all over a Manix Magnacut, if I could get one 😅

sal is a good dude. i didn't like his response to the ayoob qc issues, but he's also the same guy that went out of his way to send my son a personalized knife after he had a real bad brake in his arm, and i thought that was a very special gesture. i don't worship the man, but i'll always be a fan of his and spyderco for that. it helps that they make great knives too.

i am impatiently waiting for a magnacut manix. i will be buying at least one immediately. it's by far the most anticipated model for me ever.

That was very generous of Sal. I've met both him and Eric at Blade before and they are very cordial people. I will happily support them and the Spyderco brand for years to come.

I second that on the magnacut manix :exploding-head

Unless Spyderco decides to break from their typical course of action, we will not know anything about the release of this knife until it is included in a Reveal catalog.

What we know is that they have been displaying a prototype at different trade shows and the knife is in development.

Patience.
