Is this where you saw the 65 hrc in the GP Knives product page? Larrin's articles have mentioned heat treating MC up to that level, but I haven't seen anything saying what hrc spyderco is going with.

"Developed by metallurgist Larrin Thomas (Knife Steel Nerds) Magnacut is a powder metallurgy steel designed to deliver balanced high-performance with high hardness (up to 65 Rc), similar toughness to CPM-4V, and corrosion resistance better than M390, similar to LC200N."

I’m gonna hold out for a salt PM2.
What is this sorcery which you speak of? I guess I missed that in the reveal.

The Spyderco Salt series will be expanded with a Para Military 2. There truly will be a Para Military 2 for any occasion I guess, with all the variants we’ve seen so far, and now one for maritime use. This production sample featured black peel-ply G-10 handle scales, finished with a design of bidirectional grooves. According to Eric, the overall plan is to make a Salt version of every knife, made in the US factory. And although it’s hard to make out in these photos, I had a hard time getting a good shot of the engraving, the blade will be made of MagnaCut. The liners and all other hardware were coated black.

Holy cow, that is the one PM2 to rule them all! Definitely going to need one of those, I hope the production salt keeps the patterned G10 like that one.

Yep, it will! That’s a production sample that is pictured, so this knife is already developed and currently being produced. What we see is what we’ll get.

Wow. A PM2 Salt in Magnacut. And in G10! By the time my funds can justify it, it should be out for awhile, and that's a model I'd be interested in.

I'm assuming the detent ball will be ceramic?

Glad you got lucky! I'll get one eventually. I kinda got lucky last week when I snagged the last Rex45 N5 GP Knives had. Gonna find me some Rit dye and have a little fun.

That white Rex45 N5 was such a steal and takes die amazingly well. You're going to love it. And I dyed mine with blade left in and didn't experience any rust or negative effects. It dyes pretty fast and if you rinse it quick followed with some WD40 you'll be fine.

Well there was a long delay on this knife and I believe the reasoning was because they went over heat treat and lock bar steel type, so I'm guessing they did make some changes to the heat treat. It's hard to compare my SE Native to my PE mule but I'm guessing they bumped it up a few points.

Got my order in for a plain edge through DLT, thanks again Beau. I just got a reminder about patience, I couldn't wait any longer to get some Magnacut so I ended up ordering a Kershaw launch 15 less than an hour ago.
