I carried several Cold Steel knives in CTS-XHP for quite a while with no problems. I have the Native Chief XHP versions, but have not carried them. I've carried my S90V Native Chief since the day I received it. Native Chiefs are awesome knives.

It is difficult to design a top flight self defence knife. The Native Chief series ranks very high up there to me.
I have to agree , the whole package really appeals to me . I like how deep the blade sits in the scales and the blade has sort of a retro feel to it . Since I’m an Illinois guy Orange works for me if you know what I mean . Thanks Naperville . MG2

Okay guys I placed my order a few minutes ago, and want to thank everyone for your comments . I have been looking at a Native Chief since Spring , debating if I should get one . I will post pics in the future , first I got to find a tractor , which won’t be hard in my town . Regards MG2

That Manix2 is a beauty! Really like those scales . Found one on eBay , the price was scary . Just curious what were you doing behind the waterfall ? Biology project maybe ?
thanks! it's my favorite knife. the only thing i don't like is the pins, which is why i want to grab up a g10 manix so badly. i think i might wait for one in spy27 or magnacut though.

that waterfall is one of my favorite hikes on oahu. we went often and always took our visitors. it's a fairly easy hike, so our kids could manage it, but it was also a little less popular and a little more wild than the hikes that the tourists stick to. here is a picture of the falls from my last visit.

CTS-XHP has a considerably higher chromium content than S30V; I would have thought that its corrosion resistance would very good, and certainly superior to S30V in that regard. Or does CTS-XHP’s higher carbon content somehow cancel that out?

Jim
The high carbon content causes a lot of the chromium to be tied up in chromium carbides. That contributes to wear resistance, but not corrosion resistance.

Thank you for the clarification!

This is just a friendly warning from experience, do not handle a Native Chief in S90V with the CF scales. Can you say addictive? :woozy

I think it carries very well. A little awkward in my hand as I am just starting out with it. I'll give it some time and see if that changes for me.

I hope that we get to see the Native Chief in at least 5 more steels. I'll buy every one of them.

Native Chief is a great design. It keeps Mitary fans happy. We can alternate between the two and have plenty of edge.
