2021 misses?

With 2021 soon wrapping up, what spyderco opportunities did folks pass on that they now regret?

For me, early in 2021 I passed on a nearly new spy27 native 5 lw for $80 in favor of a new SE native in s35vn at regular price. While I don’t regret the SE, I should have gone all in because now I would want a PE native.

During the summer I passed on a nearly new rockjumper PE for $50 because at the time I thought I would only like an SE rockjumper. This one nags me often!

Then, I kind of wish I had picked up a ti Byrd meadowlark when I had a chance.

I have no misses or regrets about my knife purchases this year. I purchased less than the past few but only because I'm pretty content at the moment. There's a couple models that are still on my radar but I have other hobbies that have been pulling at my wallet harder than adding another knife to the pile.

Looking at the list of 2021 sprints and exclusives - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=90980#p1567634 big thanks to the authors - I did not miss a thing.

I was hoping for a G10 Native 5 and a G10 Manix 2 (non-purple ) this year, but that's OK. Hopefully in 2022.

I regret not getting a CutleryShoppe PM2 wharnie. I'm not really fond of the PM2 platform, as I only have one in S30V. I just found it too big for my needs.

Seeing photos of it on the forum every now and then makes me wish I had gotten it nonetheless, as I really like wharncliffe blades.

The abundance of PM2 variants that came out this year meant that I could catch up with acquiring older models that I liked, such as the Brouwer and Sliverax. And of course, there's always a chance the wharnie PM2 might come back next year

No regrets here. Got every Spydie I wanted to get (not many anyway).

Actually even very happy with the purchases I made - especially the amazing Tenacious LW in S35VN and the also amazing Salt 2 ffg SE - the former a great EDC folder with the almost perfect (long) amount of cutting edge I like to have there, the latter a great almost no weight and no bulk, but extremely capable mountaineering, hiking and running folder.

Honorable mention goes to the "old" FRN Native I found used, featuring the very cool sabre hollow blade with the swedge.
Not a knife I would have "needed", but enjoy a lot, despite it is rather (too) small for my preferences.

I think I'm pretty content. I'm still a little salty about how my K390 Police 4 turned out but I'm still working on it.

I hear you! I blew out my knee last January playing in the mountains and it’s not been nice to me or my dog! Luckily I was able to have it reconstructed late in October and soon on the mend (I’m hoping to get cleared to use a bike trainer and for pool work at my physical therapy apt this afternoon!)

This is part of the reason I’ve been hanging around this forum this year…my wallet regrets it, but my pocket and kitchen knife block dont!

As something of a newcomer, I always wonder why they don’t just make the mule a regular production model in a basic US steel and then do something of a pre-order for the new steel “testers”…maybe then there wouldn’t be this odd frenzy to purchase followed by super high flipper prices? Who knows…I’d love to have one in something like spy27 or I suppose magnacut, esp SE, for yard work, but it’s just not worth the time and self-inflicted consternation of trying to navigate the drop while at work. Oh well.

That is why I missed the Z-Wear, and why I hope NOT to miss tomorrow's drop; I will be at work. Maybe if I sweet talk my wife, she'll drive up to the SFO?

Can’t say I’ve ever had a “miss” with Spyderco, given the broad range of its annual offerings. But, then, I have become pretty aggressive after-market, which helps me through the absurdity of fast Exclusive sell-offs of the very few of those I must have.

Not buying the Native 5 Pacific Salt version. Man have they gotten gone!
