the resistance in this post is hilarious. why does anyone care if someone wants spydiesocks? spyderco makes bandanas. what's so wrong with socks? i'd wear some, but i'd prefer a lightweight version. 😂

Sorry man no LW here I need them hard use socks for extra arse kicking protection

I like wool socks as much as the next guy; I own plenty of Icebreaker, Darn Tough, and even Kirkland rag wool socks, but this seems like a strange combo.Branding only really makes sense when you can flex it, and it's a novel design that's more than just a bare bones logo. Otherwise I can't see anyone other than diehard fans ponying up for branded socks.
I don’t like branded apparel. Never made sense to me. Why would I pay money for clothing just so that I can be a walking advertisement. If I like the company and I get a hat or shirt for free then I might wear it. It’s a common practice though and some companies manage to sell their brand as much as their products and people buy it up.

This is why the socks appeal to me, I can wear some Spyderswag covertly.

i'm not usually a big fan of being a walking billboard either, but i'm always showing people my knives anyway and i have a calendar at my desk. i like to show them they can get a better knife than what they typically carry for a reasonable price. i enjoy supporting spyderco, especially after getting to know the company better and how they treat loyal customers. my whole family is still really impressed with sal sending my son a knife earlier this year and many of them have bought spydercos since to support the company.

Love the crocks and socks!
Needs to be over the calf sock to stay up and an external pocket so the knife is comfortable to wear. If you have the clip showing, it’s not concealed. Tac Sök! :winking-tongue

Agreed. Irresistable!

Heck, I'd be tempted to take both my socks AND my knives from out my sock drawer if I could gear up like Evil D.

Kidding aside, the Tac Søk is not a bad idea, if it could be an additional way to conceal a blade. But it'd need a heckuva light weight knife in it, to not pull the søk down.

I love good socks, but branding/billboarding ain’t my jam. There are some very few and far apart exceptions, but it’s generally a turn off for me.
I’m not against others getting access to this kind of merch though, just providing an honest datapoint for Spyderco.

A bit off topic, but Enabler D, in another thread, convinced me to try a pair of Darn Toughs. I'm going to see how I like them, and the warranty is incredible.

The initial cost is a bit steep but if you buy about 10 pairs so you have a good number to rotate through, with their warranty policy you'll never have to buy socks ever again unless the company goes out of business and even then you may never wear them out of you have enough to rotate. A year later you won't miss the money and every time you put a pair on you'll be thanking yourself. My only regret is not buying them sooner and all the years I spent wearing crappy socks.

Over the last few years, I've switched out my entire sock drawer to Darn Tough in multiple lengths. I've used the warranty a couple times, and they basically have me locked in at this point. I think Spyderco Darn Tough's are a silly long shot, but I would buy a pair...
So it goes.

I have one pair on the way, and if I like them, I will slowly get more. If my feet like the wool, it seems like the way to go.

I like SmartWool about as much as Darn Tough, but Darn Tough has a better name and better marketing, IMO. Bring on the Spydiesocks, sez I. I would certainly use socks more than a shot glass with a blade stuck in it, or a Spyder-embroidered messenger bag.

I think the idea of stashing a blade in your socks has legs (no pun intended). I mean, isn't it the same idea as an ankle holster?
