I love this forum. Thanks for the input all!

BTW I've written on both versions a good bit. It's my favorite model.

LC200N is plenty tough enough for everything. this is not a pry knife.

H1's toughness is useful beyond prying (which it can handle).
it allows to to hold thin edges quite well. my ~10dps aqua salt has batoned wood for something like 12 years now with no chips or rolls.
edit: specifically regarding the SE versions, I've never seen H1 SE chip and fracture during reprofiling - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84678&start=900 - I did see that with LC200N.
you can't go wrong with either version, I just don't subscribe to the mindset that H1 is obsolete.

same.
op,
i've experienced some rolling with se lc200n on my caribbean. my first cut with the knife was some pallet straps that were apparently a lot for it to take. to be fair, i may have torqued my wrist or something when cutting because i haven't had any issues since. i cut the same straps with my pacific salt in h1 just to test it and had zero issues.
remember, since lc200n is ffg, even with the chisel grind, it's probably a little thinner of an edge than the hollow ground pacific salt. like i said, for emergency cutting tasks and anything where i want teeth for cutting, i prefer the beefier hollow grind on h1. the caribbean is kind of an exception to that for me because it's still a beefy knife, even though it might be a little thinner behind the edge.
also, i find that the lack of washers makes the knife a little harder to flick open, but the simplicity of the design is brilliant for a knife that gets fine sand and salt water all through the pivot. it doesn't get worse with time and it's easy to rinse out, in my experience. i just depress the lock bar and move the blade back and forth while water is running through the pivot. super easy and quick. i've never taken mine apart.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

"Do you find the lack of washers makes opening and closing the Pac Salt get stiffer and more difficult over time? And if so, do you tear and down and clean it up?"
I use Gunny Glide on the pivot area, absolutely smooth and no change over time. Any pivot lub that is long lasting will be an advantage.

No, they all break in to be quite smooth.TheGiant80 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 12:47 pmDo you find the lack of washers makes opening and closing the Pac Salt get stiffer and more difficult over time? And if so, do you tear and down and clean it up?
I've noticed gen 1 having the least side to side play while keeping the pivot loose enough to add no additional opening resistance.
Gen 2 is slightly worse.
Gen 3 (LC Pacific Salts) are even worse.
I'm not sure why the H1 and LC Pacifics seem different in this regard, it is possible its just the ones I've handled.
My broken in salts like the one in my pocket now open very smoothly.
