Easy.

Tenacious LW in S35 VN.

"Chinese budget" knife?
Not at all.

Absolutely flawless fit and finish (except no lube in the pivot area), long edge in a compact package, very good ergos, perfect EDC steel and the imho still quite underappreciated (if well made!) linerlock.

Now I am hoping for three things:

1.) a version in full SE
2.) a REALLY light Tenacious "lightweight" (so build like the Millie almost linerless, and with a Manix 2 LW -ish weight).
3.) May this be just the starting shot for more mid- to high end linerlock Spydies.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Z-Wear and Z-Max mules are my joint winners

How often do you get these types of steals in a blade at such a good price and finish

Spyderco has jumped the shark with all the 4 mule varieties this year

Serrated Police 4. This was easy as it's the only Spyderco I've kept from the few I purchased this year.

That said, I prefer the Caribbean and the police hasn't seen a great deal of pocket time after the first week or so. I am looking forward to a number of knives- an LC200n dragonfly, a salt lil native, the Ayoob's return. Unfortunately this year's selection hasn't been really thrilling (so far).

Pacific Salt 2 in LC200N with full serrations. The steel is a real improvement over the older version and the Neon green handle pushed it over the top for me. One really sweet folder. It was the only real competition for my Plain Jane S30V Military which see's the most pocket time.

For me it's either:

Under 3.2 inches - Yojimbo 2, above that, easily the K390 Endela
"Remember, it is never the knife's fault." - Daniel Boulud

18 Spyders and counting...

The Wharncliffe Dragonfly has become my dedicated Boston carry knife over the past year. I sometimes find myself carrying it even in areas without a 2.5" blade limit. Hopefully we'll see it in SE someday!

i would say the knife i carried the most throughout the last year is the caribbean. it's not my favorite, but it's a really good knife and it works well for when i only want to carry one knife instead of two.

i've said it before, but i'll repeat it here again... the caribbean combines some of my favorite aspects of my favorite spydercos into a single package. there's a slight belly like the manix, there's a compression lock like the yojimbo, and it's a serrated salt like the pacific salt. it also has a sheepsfoot blade, which makes it good for emergency purposes and still useful for edc, and a neutral grip that fills my hand and inspires confidence in use.

i have to also say the caribbean is the smoothest knife i've ever owned. it's a lot of fun to play with.

That's an absolutely stunning picture!

My 2021 knife of the year would have to be the Native Salt. Followed very closely by the M390 Manix and the Pacific Salt 2.

I ended up with three this year. Which, by the way, is way less than any of the previous years since my first :bug-red .

- Chief CF S90V
- Shaman Z-wear
- PM2 Elmax

Of these, it would be the Shaman. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. But in that short time, it has performed very well around the camp. Used it exclusively as fire starter and food prep on couple of trips.

Catcheman. Not only beacause it's the only Spydie purchase this year but also a stellar food prep tool and a long awaited one in the collection.

Love this pic LB! I think it captures the spirit of the knife perfectly.

For me... well, this knife was released way back in 2018 and this one is really a case of not judging a book by its cover since I only acquired it and fell in love with it - accidentally (go figure)... the Lil' Native.

I've said it before in these threads and I'll say it again, first initial impression was it's too small for what it is and kinda ugly (at first sight), like a disproportionate and compressed Native 5 with a negative angled spine... Only after I ordered the BHQ Lil Native to trade for other knives did my curiosity get the better of me and started handling it... long story short, I ended up keeping the knife and tracked down all the exclusives (thankfully there's only 5 of them). I'm about to complete the exclusives and sprints with the arrival of the Rex 45 LN in a few week's time. Bring on more Lil' Natives!

2021 has been good all things considered.
So it goes.

Probably my second hand k390 PM2 - even my wife likes to use it and she is not a knife person at all. I may get the Cru-Carta version once it becomes available around here (or I get a Para 3LW for my wife, not sure yet).

Also - I am very impressed by the Urban. The N690co is just OK, but the design is great. I am now hunting down the k390 version (talk about a needle in a haystack).
... I like weird :bug-red :bug-white-red :bug-white ...
