Dear 911rsr:
Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
You might want to start with Flitz metal polish, working in the direction of the satin finish. If you have a Dremel tool or drill, the Scotch-brite-style polishing wheels Dremel sells also do well.
Stay safe,
Mike

I'm pretty sure scratches on laminated steels are there to stay. My Pakkawood Delica in coated steel (can't remember exactly what it was, no longer have the knife) as well as my Vtoku2 Dragonfly got scratched up easily during use. You learn to love it haha!

Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
I usually use scotch Brite pads. I just lay the blade flat on the pad and pull it back. Never did it with ZDP-189 but it should work like any other steel. Just be sure to pull back straight. If not it'll show in the finish.
Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
The ZDP DF2 isn't laminated.

It isn't? Hmm, I thought all ZDP knives were laminated and have the line. The couple I have/have seen do. Learned something new today! Switched devices and the photo shows up now, clearly does not!

Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
The BRG handled models are not. My BRG Endura, DF2, Ladybug, and Delica are all homogeneous. But the G10 and handled versions (I think) are laminated like the Caly, so some models are laminated.
Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
Brown G10 Stretch2 is solid ZDP, too.
All laminated steel Spydies I own scratch super easily. That's just the way it is.

Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
I have the Endura 4 in ZDP-189 non-laminated, the "British Racing Green" line isn't laminated.
I guess something harder than the ZDP managed to scratch it. I would go the same way than @Michael Janich depicted to remove these scratches. However, it might take a lot of time for something that'll certainly happen again soon after restoring the satin finish.

Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
I believe the very first Spyderco ZDP-189 blades were laminated, this is steel stock from the kitchen knife industry. Later they were all solid ZDP-189 steel.
Some of the early laminated FRN scales were blue in color,,,, later changed to dark green.
I marked my first solid ZDP-189 Delica on a diamond stone,,,, a leather strop with diamonds removed almost all the marks.
Regards,
FK

Re: SCRACHES on ZDP-189
I had one of the blue Sprint Run Delicas in ZDP-189 from each of the production runs, and neither was laminated. As far as I know, those were Spyderco's first foray into ZDP. Sal once said the decision between laminated and solid came down to what the maker's equipment could cut. The maker that did the Endura/Delica family preferred solid, the maker that did the Calypso family would only use laminated.
