Thank you Doc Dan for bring up this most interesting thread. Because for the last 8 to 10 years I've suggested that Spyderco bring back one of their most loved, "in house" fixed blade models specifically for the Salt Series. The original FB-05 TEMPERANCE 1 model that was one of the very few Spyderco fixed blade models that was offered in PE & SE both. I've said for years that if they were to make a Salt Series version of that great, older fixed blade model and do it with a rust proof blade steel for outdoor uses they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelf.

The FB-05 TEMPERANCE 1 fixed blade model is still to this day one of my most favorite Spyderco fixed blades. And to make a Salt Series, outdoor version of that great fixed blade model would be special. Not to mention if they made it in PE & SE both it would be a dream knife for most avid outdoor minded knife users.

Tbh I think the line is fairly well rounded out size wise. I’ve been using my ukpk salt A LOT recently and that size is just right for everyday utility.

What I think is missing is sturdier options. Almost every time I get a salt I find myself searching desperately for g10 scales. Nothing against frn really, I actually love a lot of it. But Solid g10 slabs just inspire confidence, especially since knives like the native salt are SO front heavy. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it 100 more times until it happens, there needs to be a g10 native salt.

So all of that, or hawkbills in Lc200n. I’ll take either.
Lightly insane.

Current spydie collection: Watu, Rhino, UKPK Salt G10 bladeswap, Yojimbo 2 Smooth G10 Cru-Wear, Manix lw “mystic” 20cv, SmallFly 2, Waterway, Ladybug k390, Caribbean
Current favorite steels: sg2/R2, lc200n/Z-FiNit, 3v

I think the still in-production Jumpmaster 2 can stand in for an SE Salt version of the Temperance 1. General dimensions are pretty close, as are the ergonomics.

That said, I'd love to see a PE version of the Jumpmaster 2 in LC200N.

Really hoping for translucent FRCP when the LC200n Manix2 LW finally happens.

This seems like such a brilliant idea I really think there must be a reason it hasn't happened yet. There must be a reason they don't think the platform will work as a Salt model, otherwise this just seems like a guaranteed seller. You could put this in a blister pack at Bass Pro Shop and it would fly off the shelves.

Excited about the Enuff XL in H1 if in PE
viewtopic.php?t=89891

Would also like Ladybug slip joint in Salt, preferably H1 (and PE) to be 100% impervious to corrosion

There are already Salt 2 Lightweight LC200N Lockbacks with 3" blade lengths. There are four varieties: Drop Point Plain Edge, Drop Point SpyderEdge, Wharncliffe Plain Edge and Wharncliffe SpyderEdge. I have the Wharncliffe SpyderEdge with a quarter inch straight edge tip. Very handy for opening all types of tough packagings, seat belts, etc.

What I would definitely get is a Manbug LC200N Wharncliffe SpyderEdge!

Phil Wilson collaboration or inspired fixed fillet in Vanax but LC200N would be fine, too. :winking-tongue

Shaman Salt in LC200N. Possibly in two versions: G10, and a lightweight in FRN. Both with LC200N liners and ceramic detent balls, with stronger retention than the Caribbean.

Somewhere there's an alternate timeline where every knife model also has a SE Salt variant. I just need to get my hands on that Time Stone...

there was talk of the lil native salt. they even made the blades. i'm guessing we'll still see that eventually after they release the lil native lw. i'd love a heavyweight lil native with comp lock or even a chaparral salt with titanium scales like the spydiechef has.

i'm looking forward to the longer enuff models too. didn't they say those would be salt models? that would be amazing for an edc fixed blade.

as much as i love my manix and the salt series, i think this might be one of the few colors i just couldn't buy. i really dislike the translucent scales and yellow only makes it worse to me. i'd rather see a m2lw with a backlock and opaque scales, even if it was the standard yellow salt color. the backlock would be easier to operate in the water and a simpler design that would be less likely to get gummed up in the environments where a salt knife most shines.

I thought the same thing as well, but I believe the Spydiechef is actually part of the Salt family.
