Very cool. Thanks for sharingCapt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 1:22 pmI'm sure many have seen this, but I had not. Good article about the origins of Spyderco. Nothing that I didn't already know, but was definitely an interesting read.

zcut pro tip:
Messermeister makes a 4.5" blade cover for about $2.50 that's a perfect fit. It's cheaper than making your own kydex cover for one based on what I paid for bulk kydex last order.
I got mine at sur-la-table. They'll give you %10 off if you're "in the industry" and that stacks with their frequent 20% off sales.
With the cover they're only about $25. Try finding another US made paring knife in BD1N under $50. I can't fine one under $80.
Best value in Spydercos line-up IMO.

Re: Random: General Spydie Chat
Thanks for the tip. Have guards in larger sizes, but probably should get these. Been a while since I visited Sur-la-tab in Carmel.
Re: Random: General Spydie Chat
Put together my leftovers after swapping the G10 scales on my black CE.
Gotta say I've really come to appreciate the lack of a choil and the neutral handle shape. After carrying it all vacation its quickly become a favorite. Very good fit for my hands and I like the blade length better than the Pacific Salt.
Suppose I should write a review sometime soon.

This was fun last time....
Here's my drawer of folders I choose from each morning. Which would you pick?
From the top,
Yojumbo DLC
M4 DLC Native Chief with dyed scales
M4 Manix XL with micarta scales
Pacific Salt 2 PE waved
Pacific Salt 1 PE
Pacific Salt 2 PE dyed scales
Pacific Salt 2 SE
Siren
G10 Resilience with FRN scales swapped on
FRN CE black Resilience with G10 scales swapped on
Told myself I'm carrying something I haven't used in a while. May even bring two.

nah, custom hack job on a 1x30" sander
Considered carrying it today but I told myself I'd give teeth another go after getting the SE Pacific 2 razor sharp.
Since converting my PE knives to very coarse edges, SE has lost some of its magic to me. Giving them another go this week.

Not really. What about SG89?

Lots of regulars from the past few years don't check in as often lately. I've PM'd with a few. Most have other things going on during the summer months, but also the vibe of the forum being off as well as the lack of familiar faces. It's either an overall suckfest of praises, or constant nit picking of minor details. No happy medium...I totally get it and see it myself as well.

I thought JuPaul moved on to custom or higher end knives? Maybe I’m confusing her with someone else.
The lack of new models and sheer number of Sprints may have contributed to the loss of members stopping by.

He definitely has a presence on the forum that has been missed. The last time he disappeared was the ladder incident. I originally had a joke about the ladder coming back to finish the job, but I bit my tongue because he also has a Dangerous job. I'm sure you're right though, probably just taking a break.
I believe JuPaul is serpentinecuts on IG. Like JR said, she's still in the knife world posting pics of high end customs with high end serpents. Hopefully she'll make a return one day.

Sorry this is random. I was bored searching through spydiewiki and looking at all the different knives Spyderco makes. Wow. I forgot how many exclusives they really had made in the past 4 years. I did notice not all are listed.? If I remember correctly around a year or so ago something happened to spydiewiki. I think there was a discussion on it breaking or being fixed. Like for example in para 3 no knife center dlc crew wear was listed. No rec shaman was listed And So on. But there are newer ones updated on there. Who inputs the info on there? Does anyone know what happened?
