I actually thought I might be the only one that doesn't like customizing my Spydercos at all. All OEM for me! ;)

My most customized Spyderco is a McBee with an official McNees clip on it. Every other one of my 100+ Spyderco's is bone stock the way they came from Spyderco. Just the way I like them!

I've even bought knives with no other intentions than to customize them. They're still bone stock. :zany

All stock for me as well. Even my recent zome purchases, which I loathe. I want to rit dye them so bad but my OCD won't let me mess with them.

The only Spyderco that I have modded is the Swayback, which I put an MXG clip on.

I realized that the money I would have spent on aftermarket clips and scales are better allocated to buying more knives.

Wow! No other clips even?! That's pretty extreme, haha!

I've replaced a ton of clips, but don't think I've ever swapped scales on a Spydie...I could be wrong, but it's definitely not something I do often. I've replaced scales/hardware on fixed blades, BM's & ZT's in the past though...
LOL Yep! That one McBee with a McNees clip is it! I actually bought two clips for two McBees but only ended up using one of the clips. :spiral-eyes

I usually tie a small fob onto my Ladybugs too but I don't really count those.

I don’t mod either…unless an actual problem presents itself.

I did swap in Cuscadi scales to escape my Urban’s spinning pivot and my Pingo’s absurdly slick titanium handles.

I actively dislike aftermarket clips.

If a design does not appeal to me, I won’t buy it to change it. I just won’t buy it.

I don't do many "aggresive" mods, but I absolutely love swapping blades/scales. RadioactiveSpyder is the blade swap king around these parts and greatly influenced my early days on the forum here and inspired how I wanted my hobby to be. I love having somewhat unique pieces that are all factory parts, even if the warranty went bye-bye. Golden will still provide repair/service for, IMO, a very reasonable cost.

I've always been a tinker. None of my vehicles have ever remained stock either. It's more fun and more personal to you to customize, instead of having the exact same thing as 500,000 other people! A lot of times I've sold my oem scales from a knife to fund the new scales. Sometimes only paying $5-10 out of pocket for something more unique.

I often customize the looks, carrying and action of my knives.
I've modified some to allow other means of opening (turned a kizer thumbstuds linerlock into a frontflipper).

All of my "Para" Spydercos have a custom clip, the Sage 5 LW and Chapparal LW too.
The Chap had some issues with the wire clip, it kept twisting no matter how tight it was, even when i really tried and swap the tube + 2 screws of side, just in case it would work.

I've chopped some Opinels too lol.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

We were having knife talk at work earlier and one of the guys says he uses Kroil to lube his pivot. First I've heard of someone using that stuff. Anybody else ever try it? I'll stick to my mineral oil and BM blue lube.

Kroil is a penetrating oil like PB Blaster, but better. It is very thin, I don’t think it would lubricate well for very long. And definitely not food safe. Or at least I don’t like the taste 😁

I'm going to dress up my PM2 with some custom scales in the near future. I put a lanyard on mine but I like the personal touch too!

Very nice!! If you ever find yourself around a scale...I would be curious to know the weight difference between the LNW & G10. They all look great!
So it goes.

Random- There's a dealer, that's still pretty new on the dealer list... they have their Delicas listed as the Spyderco Delicate. I thought that was kinda funny. https://knifeworldwv.com/ :beaming-face

If you HAD to choose...

What would be the next knife to LEAVE your collection? Selling, gifting, trading, throwing away, whatever...which one is the next to go?
So it goes.
