Is it possible that you may have forgotten that either 1) you used your blade to swipe a spider web out of your way or *EDITED - Inappropriate - TazKristi*

Looks like a coin got in there
Haven’t carried coins in years and when I did, it was always in my back pocket or I throw them in my wife’s purse…haha.

But say a coin did get in there, how would it create those lines with the knife closed?

But how can some coin scratch a 62 HRC XHP blade on a Chap?
The coin doesn't really scratch the blade so much as coin rubs off onto the blade. The effect looks the same. If that's what happened some Fitz might clean it off.

So it is the same deal like usually with DLC? All's well that ends well.

The post was edited and the pic was removed. It definitely was there though.

Without being able to see the picture, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that OP is actually Gargamel and this was caused by the Smurfs he was trying to capture.

Serves him right!

Thread was going in a weird direction so I removed the pic. Read couple posts up…never expected a response like “*EDITED*”.

Rather have the thread die

So you did not find the cause?

Did you ever sharpen it on a Worksharp Knife and Tool Sharpener (belt version) or similar. If you don't put tape on the blade, the residue of grit on the guides will mark it up exactly like the picture shows/showed.
