No new reveals until you guys catch up ....starting to get ridiculous
Not going to lie, I wouldn't mind seeing them delay the next reveal if it would help them catch up.

I have to agree with you guys here. Let the production models hit the shelves again!

I also wouldn't mind having a period of time to recoup some funds either!!

I’m with y’all, but I hope the pause in exclusives is enough to get regular production up along with a few new models.

Hi Ric,

At this time, Eric just announced that we will be cutting back on exclusives until we can catch up with regular production.

sal

There’s a big backlog of current regular production models and new models announced in Reveals but undelivered. However, many Exclusives have continued to be delivered since Sal’s post and they were probably already in the pipeline.

Since June 22nd, 22 new models have been delivered of which 12 were Sprints Runs/Exclusives/Mule Teams and 10 were new regular production models from the Reveals.

i wonder how much the exclusives in golden or seki eat up the resources for taichung. the production models i'm waiting on currently are from taichung, but there haven't been as many exclusives from there.

Exclusives are years in the making and I would assume take priority over in-house production because there's a third party paying customer who's expecting their products to be made. Since those products are almost always guaranteed sales for both the vendor and Spyderco, they seem to get priority over standard models. It does kinda suck when you're waiting for whatever model to get back in stock but I also understand the reason for it. I'm sure Covid stuck a wrench in those gears too and pushed production to make even more compromises. I'm also sure this is a delicate balance and much more difficult to manage than we think.

I think a lot of people assume it's as simple as "let's fire up the ol' knife making machine and crank out some knives". Who knows if they even have X steel in house to make a standard Para 2. How has Covid effected shipping worldwide? There are many many questions and I don't think a single one of the answers is " oops we got caught up in the exclusive money making scheme and got behind on production".

I can’t recall if I read about this or not… is this the confirmed format for the Lil Native Salt?

I remember some discussion about whether people would prefer BL or CL but can’t recall is Sal weighed in. BL would make more sense to me given the Native Salt is in that format but I’m sure some people would want a comp lock.

The benshot rocks glass has a Lc200n lil native blade for a backlock so we assume the salt lil native will be a backlock

I'm really surprised there's that shot glass but not a production knife to use the same blade. Maybe cutting out the blade in back lock shape was easier or something? LC200N I think is an obvious choice for something that may get washed or even ran through a dishwasher, but it seems like since you're already making the blades you may as well go the next step and make the knives too.

I wonder if they ever make a not yet announced full production run of a knife but then hold it back to save for the next Reveal/catalogue...

Sure would be fun to get a peek in their warehouse, wouldn’t it. Who knows what we’d find :)

Stretch XL has the potential to be my perfect knife. If that's the case, I'll purchase 3 or 4 and disappear into the ether!

(Also I'm VERY curious about the steel choice, as Sal said it's special but won't be MagnaCut..)

Yup. Spydergirl88 is right. That was my thoughts too. Nothing to do with comp vs BL. Although I did call out my FRN preference for this hopefully eventual release.

I guess there will be a long dry period for exclusives after this backlog clears. Ok with me, just something to ponder.

LC200N dragonfly!

I would buy 6 on day one for various household uses. Then probably one a month for gifts.

White frn would be awesome because then I can have fun with the dye jobs.
