Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Hello dear forum participants. I ask for your professional opinion. Bought Para3, I want to know is it original or fake? Attaching photo.
I am waiting for your opinion. Thank you.
I would like to add. My doubts arose after I found out that fakes are being sold on aliexpress. Here is a video (not mine), the knife is very similar to the original:

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
I am not a Para 3 expert at all, so all I can do to help is to bump your thread, since I see you got not replies so far.
(I can see nothing suspicious on your knife, but as said, I don´t know a lot about this model)
I guess you should also post your request once more in this sub-forum https://forum.spyderco.com/viewforum.php?f=8

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Wow! Very detailed pictures. It looks like a 100% genuine Golden made Para3 in S30V.
I have a few Para3 sprints/exclusives, unless your knife has a specific issue you are concerned about, the pictures depict a genuine Spyderco knife.

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
As far as I can tell, it is authentic.
Is there something about the knife that makes you think it could be a fake?

Throw a cigarette paper in the air and if you don't cut it in 2 it's fake
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Where did you buy it?

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Comparing your pictures to my same Para 3 model I’d say it’s genuine. Do you suspect it’s fake?
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Compared to mine, there's a lot that looks right, and a few things that aren't.
A couple things I see could be variables in manufacturing, but there's a couple I don't think so.
For this reason, I'm suspicious of it.

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Care to elaborate? The lanyard tube was the only thing that made me look twice...
So it goes.
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
My S35 para 3 coyote brown looks very very similar… minus the color of course. The lanyard tube for my model also flairs out into the G-10. I did a scale swap… it was very difficult to remove the tube (the tero-tuff manufacturer walked me through it.)
If this is a fake, then we are all doomed.
This model looks 100% similar to my model in fine detail and textures.
It’s a great knife! I am carrying a para 3 most days of the week, great size and multi use tool!

Was never a space cadet, but with LC200N I might be more in space than a cadet.

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
I've yet to hear of any counterfeit/fake Para 3s
Looking at the pics I highly doubt it's anything but the real deal

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Your Para 3 is genuine.
The very first fake Para 3s hit the market about two months ago. This isn't one of them.

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
The only way I would be able to help is to Google pictures of originals to compare with, since I don't have one. I did want to say though, your pictures are excellent, and will help very much in answering your question.
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
Here's a couple of the new Para 3 counterfeits for comparison (not my pic). They're currently running them in black and digicam colorways.
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
The differences I see from mine are
stop pin
clip alignment
lanyard tube
lettering
scale cut outs and screw holes. Aftermarket scales?
There may be others I can't see due to camera angles and lighting.
Others might not be visible without disassembly.
Some I won't see due to mine being heavily modified and deleted.

Thanks for elaborating; I'm going to stand with my original opinion that the OP's knife is an authentic Spyderco, but I appreciate your concerns.
If it is a fake, then I commend the manufacturer on their commitment, and now fully understand Sal's stated concerns on the future of the American Knife Industry.
So it goes.
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
It appears to be a real legitimate spyderco. The laser in graving looks real and everything looks like it’s where it’s supposed to be. The grind looks good. I’d say it’s good

Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
All the stuff I listed could possibly be manufacturing differences, but there's quite a few.Airlsee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 3:31 pmjpm2 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 3:18 pmThe differences I see from mine are

Also mine's a rex45 sprint so....
Re: Spyderco Para3: original or fake ?
I don't know what you guys are looking at (yes I see your list). The OP's looks just like my first run S30V Para 3. I also have the REX45, Cruwear, M390, and SNK 4V. Aside from the obvious, they all look like the one pictured in the first post. There's no doubt in my mind that the OP's Para 3 is realjpm2 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 4:37 pmAll the stuff I listed could possibly be manufacturing differences, but there's quite a few.Airlsee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 3:31 pmjpm2 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 3:18 pmThe differences I see from mine are
