How is the detent? Is it easy to shake the blade open?

Easy enough, at least on mine.

Interestingly, the detent on my original dimpled version is massively strong. I still cannot finger flick it open. The action also appears to be less smooth on mine compared to some reports of the new one.

I just ran my fingers back and forth over the spine of the tip where it meets the backspacer.

My fingers did not catch on the tip.

I could get my fingernail under the tip but thats not the same as running your hand/fingers along the outside curve of the knife.

The tip is very close to being exposed, but I have had other knives just like that and never had a problem. In fact one of the old cheap knives I used to cary actually had a tip that you could catch and it never gave me any issues.

I don't really expect this to be a particular problem in use (as you don't really grab this part of the blade to get the knife out of the pocket), but my fingers catch on the tip even if I just run them against the tip with the slightest pressure.

For whatever reason your tip is sitting up a tiny bit higher than mine.

Also the choil grip works for large hands. My pinky lands just behind the middle point in that grip. But the standard grip is so good that I default to it.

Not only does it give me a show side, but the laser etch or engraving feels nearly identical to the texture of the g10 so it feels better in hand imo.

I wish this knife would sell out already. Even though I wish it had more edge it's still very tempting.

I waited a couple of days before ordering mine, but I am really glad I decided to get one. This knife lives up to its name! It is beefy, in a really great way. It balances well and sits better in my pocket than I would have expected for such a hefty knife. I encourage anyone on the fence to get one. You'll be glad you did!

Now that the dust has settled, the knife is actually still available. I love to play with it, but I am struggling to find some real use for it. Those of you that actually decided to use it - what to you use it for? I am looking for some inspiration ... otherwise I will most likely sell it (with a huge loss as I have imported to EU what has cost me well over $100)

You can always sell it for a loss later so why not hang onto it until you find out what you like to use it for.

Its pretty much a folding kukri so its probably good at chopping. Im definitely not afraid to pry with the tip. I was using mine to pry some of those giant staples out of some 2x4s the other day.

While I haven’t used mine for much yet….. I did use the 3v version for chopping, prying, etc. it handled it with ease. One of my favorite things about this knife is you don’t have to angle for the proper cut, you pretty much keep a neutral wrist every time.
