I find no need to disassemble my knives in order to lubricate the pivot. I also don't take them apart to "fine tune" them, but that's another topic entirely.

i don't usually take them apart to lubricate them. if they just need a little oil, i take my reel oil applicator and get a few drops as deep as i can and then just work it in. i do like the ability to take the knife apart to clean it up occasionally though.

i wish i was able to do so with my manix 2 lightweight.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Yes, I think it’s fun. If I’m really in a pinch for time and it’s feeling gritty I’ll rinse it out and dribble some lube into the pivot without disassembly.

I had a short period, when the Delica 4 first came out, when I liked to disassemble them to switch handle colors etc... It was certainly fun at the time. But I stopped doing that when I realized that I couldn't re-assemble all of them again to the degree that the originals came from the box. I certainly don't disassemble to just wash, clean and/or oil the blade.

If I disassemble a knife I am doing more than that. Eg, when the action becomes gritty, or if there is rust, or when I have to clean or modify the knife - then, when I am done, I will lubricate before reassembly.

I’d like to be able to disassemble my Spydercos to make it easier to chamfer the sharp edges of their handles. Occasional cleaning would be nice. Nothing let’s me know how dirty my pockets are than an EDC with the smallest amount of excess oil around the pivot and lock.

I do not disassemble my Spydies just to lubricate them. I will take a knife apart if there needs to be a deep cleaning, or if there is something else that warrants it.

If I buy the knife new then no but I always take apart used ones so I know the condition.

If just a little oil does the trick, then no.

If it feels gritty or sticky, I try to clean them first without disassembly. If that is not enough, then I take them appart.

So most of the time I don't disassemble but sometimes I do.

I took that Military apart before...bet you didn't even notice ;)
Hah! Totally didn't, and don't mind one bit. It's one of the smoothest knives I own, and still one of my top 3 favorites.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

I definitely do disassemble my non-stainless steel knives for cleaning/lubing.

I don’t feel as much of a need for stainless steel knives, unless if it feels gritty.

I don’t hesitate to take a knife apart if I have a reason, scale swaps usually, but not to lube specifically. I clean and lube while it’s apart but adjusting the pivot screw is a more efficient way to change the action of a knife. Having said that the only Spyderco I ever took apart that needed any care was a budget model made in China. I believe it was a Resilience, and I have others including a Byrd model that haven’t needed opening up. There was some material in the pivot that you could feel during opening and closing the knife. I don’t understand “breaking in” at all. I would be surprised if anyone could show a quantifiable change in a knife due to “break in”. I suspect it’s just a rationale for fidgeting with a new knife. (Of course I am down with fidgeting to your heart’s content).

No, I do not.

I seem to be one of the few here who don’t disassemble their knives at all. Whoever assembled a knife at the factory did a better job than I would at reassembling it.

As far as lubing, I rarely lube my knives, and when I do, I use only the tiniest amount, and wipe out any excess from that.

If the pivot just seems a little dry and sluggish, no.

If the pivot feels rough and gritty, yes. Easier to take it a part than try to flush out the grit in my experience.
