Hello from the UK. Clue in the name I guess. Anyway, long time knife person with Spyderco as an EDC for many years. Sitting in my pocket as I type.
I have a question and a specialist forum is often the place to go. I have a Spydercard. Its nice, no box but almost as new. In a conversation at the range re Spyderco I remarked that the most unusial one I had was a Spydercard, plain blade, no box. Anyway, this guy wants to buy it from me. Question is, do these have any collector value? Are they rare? I bought it new many, many years back and it pretty much sat on a shelf since then. Any info or guidance from those who know more than me, (not hard), much appreciated.

Re: Spydercard Question
Dear TranterUK:
Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
One great way of gauging the collector's value of knives is to look up the sales history for them on arizonacustomknives.com. It shows the history and sales prices over time.
Stay safe,
Mike

Re: Spydercard Question
The PE Spydercard is a pretty rare bird these days. I would venture to say the only interest in them is collector interest. It's an interesting piece.

Re: Spydercard Question
A quick look at "sold" listings on eBay (the only kind of eBay listing worth looking at for value estimates) over the past 3 months, shows prices for combo edge Spydercards have run from $125 to $275. Condition and absence or presence of the box is obviously a factor in those prices but, given the relative rarity of plain edge Spydercards, it should give you at least some idea of a minimum "fair market value" for yours.

Re: Spydercard Question
The back story to the Spydercard is far more interesting and tragic than the knife. Eduard Bradichansky also designed the Shabaria. If you have an interest in Spyderco history then I would read his story and hang on to the Spydercard. Some lore is worth more than money.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Re: Spydercard Question
Many thanks for the replies. I think I will go with jdw, and agree the story is worth more than the money. I am really, really old, and way back in the 1970s and 80s I had a taste for the unusial knives. I fortunatly dont need the money, so will decline the offer from 'range guy' and hang on to it. Thanks again all.
