M390 vs 20CV Ti-CN Delica

#1

Post by pantagana23 »

I have an option to get one of these two in the next few days, since a friend is on a ship currently in the US :D
We are talking about BBB and DLT exclusives.

Pros from my point of view:
M390: my fetish steel :D , better handle colour
20CV: TI-CN blade looks cooler, less time in stock, less pricy (115)

Cons:
M390: price (160 with shipping), longer stock time (possible corrosion)
20CV: Impossibly ugly handle

Losing my mind over these.

I can’t comment on the DLT exclusive but the M390 Delica was my daily carry for over a year. I’ve been very happy with mine and it still sees some pocket time.

You definitely don’t need to worry about corrosion on that blade from it sitting on a shelf. The M390-class steels are remarkably stainless and it would take more than a little humidity to corrode the blade.

It sounds like you like the blue handle more, so I’d pay the extra $45 for it and not look back.

Hope that helps.

I like 20CV but I think Knifeworks got it right with that forest green. That DLT red spotted mess is purely ugly. It looks like it is diseased or something. Go with the Bento Box knife and be happier.

M390 and 20CV are nearly identical in composition so I wouldn’t worry about corrosion. These steels are among the highest in corrosion resistance other than the salt series steels.

So basically it comes down to looks. Choose whichever looks better to you.

Well, M390 it is.

Overall looks better, steels are the same, and we already have test results on 62 HRC for this model.

I do hate the handles, but $20 less for a knife that cuts exactly the same seems like a good deal to me.
