A MagnaCut PM2. Sounds right to me. How long the wait, I wonder.

Hi ZetaH,

Welcome to our forum.

I believe the first run will be a Mule Team, which I guess is technically a Sprint. We've ordered quite a bit and ware planning to order more. We've not yet received production quantities.

Good to hear that the first Spyderco with MagnaCut will be the Mule Team and hopefully a good 2,000 of them instead of the usual 500-600. It could be a banner year for Mule Teams and Spyderco’s dedication to knife steels.

  1. Mule Team CPM-SPY27 MT28P (USA) - FEB 2021
  2. Mule Team CPM-S45VN MT31P (USA) - APR 2021
  3. Mule Team Z-Max PM MT29P (USA) - JUN 2021
  4. Mule Team Z-Wear PM MT30P (USA)
  5. Mule Team CPM-MagnaCut MT32P (USA)

I'm good with a Mule Team. I echo the sentiment that it would be nice to see more than 600, but I understand if not - there seems to be a steel shortage going on, and Magnacut is the new hotness on the block.

I'd sure love it if Halpern would restock Micarta in time for that run.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I'd like to see a stainless steel police 4 with the Larrin logo proudly on display. I'd call it "RoboCop".

Which is why it would be great if they could grab enough steel to produce at least 2000pcs. ;)

Who knows how long it takes to own an affordable and sufficiently available (= serial production) MagnaCut Spyderco folder...

I’d love to see Spyderco do a Phil Wilson design, like the Sprig, in MagnaCut. Has Phil ever designed and/or built a folder? A Spyderco/Phil Wilson folder in MagnaCut would be pretty amazing.

As we all now know first MagnaCut is the PM2 that Larrin got from Spyderco. Now we can all relax and stop discussing the 'first one' and rather concentrate on the 'next ones' :p

Maybe it just means the PM2 is Larrins favorite Spyderco, but the mass produced "first one" can still be something else?

I'm absolutely in for a Mule, no doubt about it.

Beyond that I'm just over here hoping to see MagnaCut with serrations someday.

I dunno, I think Sal had a Manix first.

I believe Sal had a Manix2 with MagnaCut first before Larrin’s PM2 with MagnaCut. It sounds like these are one off prototypes for testing. Based on further posts by Sal, the first mass produced Spyderco in MagnaCut will be a Mule Team run of 1,500 pieces.

If that's true, I'd rather have Cruwear than Magnacut I think - don't particularly care for the extra corrosion resistance.
