Straight spine... (I'd have slightly preferred "classic", but not a dealbreaker)

Oh no... is this confirmed?? :(

Well, at least Lance wrote in the very first post of this thread (quote): "My feeling on holding the new (straight spine) XL was that it was essentially a backlock pm2 on steroids....)"
Ha, well. My eyes skipped right over that in the first post. :o

Same here. Glad to hear that the G10 version will get a "special steel".

Sal, is the XL Stretch gonna be out of Japanese production, like the regular? This might help guessing the special steel... ;)

Seki has been using more western steels of late, so it could be almost anything. That said, I hope it is a Japanese steel.

I'd be surprised if MagnaCut would be used in a Seki produced knife first. It is more likely that it's gonna be a Nippon steel anyway, if the XLS would be a Seki product.

The prototype I saw was the straight spine version and I believe it was in VG10.

The model is already being worked on. Magnacut is still being made. So, no, it's not Magnacut, but I think you will like it. Mum.

Real talk. I'll buy it in VG-10, but I'll throw some custom micarta scales on it and carry every gosh darn day if it comes in K390. :D
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Luckily I read it just right now and it´s early morning where I live... :p (btw., nice to hear from you, Giant, and this really should be "your" knife, like in should-also-fit-giant-hands ;) )
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

So not only do you live in a mountainous paradise, you’re also in the future. Very cool! :)

I’ve deleted all my social media, so I imagine I’ll be around here a lot more often.

All morning I’ve been pondering what steel and g10 colour the XL Stretch might have when it’s released. And the fact it’ll actually be big enough for my hand….I’m planning on buying several backups. Something I’ve never done!

Nowadays, K390 might not be considered all that "special" anymore, with all the Spydies that already got it.

I'm guessing it's something completely new for us. :) I remember when the VToku2 sprints were revealed, and everybody was like "V what??" :D

PS: I wasn't really expecting it was MagnaCut for the XLS. Still too early for that.

K390 isn't special for how little is out there, but rather how it responds to hard use.

As someone who's experience with "fancy" steel tops out at S35VN, I'm very interested in the magic that is K390.....and possibly REX45.

I’m not a big fan of vg10 but my preference for FRN over G10 is so great that I will take vg10 in FRN over whatever magical mystery steel is coming with the G10 version.

Honestly, my real interest is in a Salt version of this knife. I never really cared too much if they made a Salt version of the regular stretch but I really REALLY hope the XL gets the Salt treatment!

I'd also like to see a salty version, mystery steel being Vanax in the G10 model. The extra edge holding of that steel would also lend itself as a better all around carry for my uses in and off the water.

FRN for me is just so much better than G10.
I actually hope that "your" Siren will come in FRN eventually or better: Soon... ;)

I would love to see that too. I have no idea if that will ever happen but I would say that “eventually” is
Robably a better bet than “soon”. :spyder:

Hopefully the Stretch XL has the same 3 mm blade thickness as the smaller versions?
I don't get people who only carry one knife :thinking ;)

I hope so too (ok, actually I´d hope for just 2.5mm, but that of course won´t happen ;) )

But I am pretty sure it will be 3mm: Alle the Endura-/Stretch family knives larger than a Delica have this, right?
Even the probably larger-than-the-Stretch XL Police and the probably pretty similarly sized Endura...

I do also hope it tapers towards the tip the way the regular Stretch does (so getting pretty thin)
