It's definitely a strong 9, in my book.

The only thing that keeps it from a 10, is that it probably won't release as a Salt.

Not necessarily a requirement but it is a bonus for my work knives. Maybe we can at least hope for a DLC version or something.
I wouldn't say requirement. But, definitely a major plus.

The handle slabs were made out of the Caribbean's G10 and it excited me for a second, until they said that was just using leftover material.

Same Shaman contoured scales though?
No. Slab sides. Smooth, though.

It was just a Proto, so it will likely change. I remember getting my hands on the Chief proto a few years back and it had full steel liners.

Yeah, I was wondering the same. Only one vid so far, seems wrong....

....

The Military 2 is great, except it has a different choil. Sharper and deeper, like the PM2.

I hope they revert that change.
...

Discussed in an (some) other thread(s), but it sounds more and more like they really should call it the Para 4 or PM2 XL... Comp. lock? PM2 style choil? For me personally the Millie (looks and function) is almost defined especially by the great and most userfriendly linerlock but also the minimal choil...
Anyway, many will love this model, no doubt! And this is not about that the Millie 2 (as I figure now it will be) would be "bad", just not like a Millie but as said more a Para 4...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I just couldn't wait another year to go...

There were some Amazing pieces. Specifically, the choilless Shaman. If they make a Salt version, it may very well bench my Caribbean. Truly a wonderfully designed handle and blade(maybe a tad thick).

Also, there was a fixed blade there, that I can't quite remember the maker's name. But, it was one of the highlights. Fortunately, I have a contact that I will get the name from and hopefully a custom.

I'm going to plan for this better next time, so I'm not timing the stop.

To those that I spoke to, thanks for the conversations. To those I didn't, maybe next year!
Wish I could see that Military 2 prototype.

Awesome sticker by the way :)

Wow, can’t wait for these!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I’ll buy it either way, but I say bring on the PM2-style choil.

I'm not surprised by that change to the Military.

I know a lot of people here like the current shallow choil, but I can count on no hands the number of times I've seen someone ask for the PM1 style choil to make a return after the PM2 launched.

I saw less people filming this year than previous shows. Also the show ended today at 2pm so maybe in the coming week some more will pop up.

And the stuff in the prototype/pre-production display is off-limits for filming & photos.

The upcoming ParaMilitary 2 LW and Temperance 3 LW were among my favorites in the pre-production Area 51 display.
Glad to hear the PM2 LW is finally happening! Wire clip?

Definitely never a good idea. People seem to forget they're speaking to/about other actual humans with real feelings in those comment sections.

Yikes! I missed a lot of good stuff this weekend! I so wish I could've been there to see the prototype display- the Military 2 and the Techno 3 both sound very interesting.

Were there any other collaboration prototypes? I thought we might see the BBB proto...

I made the mistake of looking after you posted this. Not the most generous of reactions. :)
Having spent 15 minutes watching the video, to then state that they already ‘don’t like Spyderco’s’. So why watch?

That’s My favorite thing about the military and wish more models were less defined. I much more prefer designs that don’t force my hand somewhere. The more neutral the better in my book.

I just find it interesting that a lot of people here feel this way about the Military, but back when the PM2 came out I don't recall anyone here making similar remarks.

I do recall a few people wishing the PM2 blade was as short as the PM1, but the four way clip and deeper choil were universally loved.
