Nice!
I used to live out in the country. There were alot of Mississippi Kites and cicadas in the area. There was one Mississippi Kite that used to sit on top of a utility pole near our house that would wait for me to grab a cicada and throw it up in the air so it could swoop down and grab it. Good times :)

That Jumpmaster is a beast. I don't recall, have you ever tried the Schempp Rock?

No but I'm finding myself wanting one or a Rock Salt.

I'm watching this thread closely. I think it will inspire me to start using mine more, and stop babying it. It wasn't meant for that.

I may try to carry a large/medium fixed blade again in the future. I'd hope to find a JM1 or Rock Salt for a decent price.

Ha, I did go searching for a Jumpmaster 1 and the one website I found that had one has it discounted for the low low price of $499.00

Then I got to looking at the sheath and I really don't like how far up the handle it goes and it seems like it wouldn't allow as good of a grip during draws as the JM2 sheath does.

I have to say the factory sheath on this knife is quite good. It snaps in place very securely and doesn't rattle. I don't have any concerns about carrying it tip up hanging off my belt.

I agree. I trust this sheath completely. The ARK sheath, much less.

So in the knifecenter blade 2021 video they show off the 4" enuff. They also said there would be a salt version in h1.

If Im honest I think that will be a great alternative to the jumpmaster 2. I woyld probably prefer it. No thumb ramp, great handle but a little less hook at the end. Looks good.

Between that, the Swick and the Subway Bowie, there sure are a lot of great fixed EDC options coming soon.

a larger leaf shaped enuff in se h1 would be tough to pass up. i'd rather see it as a pe with lc200n though.

The Enuff XL will really depend on the grip length and how it fits me, but overall I like the lower profile design a lot.

from what sal has said in the past, they designed it to use the same scales as the current enuff. not sure if that helps.

Yeah I remember that now, might be a little small for my liking but I'll definitely check it out when they're available. Makes sense for production to use already paid for scale molds.

Today I broke down and reprofiled/sharpened the plain edge portion at the tip. It was pretty badly rolled and dull, so it seems like pretty standard edge retention up there.

Image

I'm wondering if I've made an oversight in this edge retention test, since it's pretty well agreed upon that you can't judge a steel by the factory edge, and most will sqy you need to sharpen the knife before you see what the steel can really do. This started as a factory edge, so does anyone think I should step back and sharpen it and start over or just keep at it?

If you think you might stick with this for the better part of a year maybe you would have enough time to push the factory edge to the limit and then push your own edge to the limit?

My two cents

I can do that. So far the worst I've cut are some branches/vines at work. I'm using it for every knife related need I have, I even just cut up dinner tonight with it.

Dang, that’s versatility right there. I’ve done some yard work and branch trimming with mine, but never had it out for food prep. Loving this thread, keep up the good work!

I agree with Zive's idea.
