Besttech Strelit...possibly MBC inspiration?

This one caught me off guard...a folding push dagger. Wondered if any MBC designs mimic this or if this is an idea Spyderco would entertain

Push daggers are not legal in most jurisdictions.

I’m all for pocket fixies. But push daggers are a little goofy and a lot illegal.
Lightly insane.

Legalities of push daggers aside, that seems like a good way to cut yourself in a self defense situation*. I thought the point of a push dagger was you grab it and pull it, it's ready to go. Trying to pull, flip and then rearrange your fingers around the blade while pumping adrenaline... yeah, that seems not ideal.
I am fairly ignorant about knife use as self defense, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.

It looks super cool, though. :)
I would never actually carry that, which makes it a pretty expensive desk toy. Certainly cool looking.

Really cool design. I thought this was the Spyderco forum though.

The design actually looks a lot like a Ray Appleton multi-position folder.
Ray's custom work was an incredibly skilled knifemaker who specialized in intricate folder designs, many of which locked the blade in multiple positions.
Folding push daggers have been done before. From an MBC perspective, all push daggers are limited primarily to thrusting, so they don't offer much versatility when it comes to tactics--or much stopping power. They're generally overrated as personal-defense weapons and, as Sal pointed out, specifically prohibited in many jurisdictions. As a wise friend of mine often said, "You don't want to start your claim to self-defense with a felony in your pocket."
Here's a video I did for the USCCA explaining the shortcomings of push daggers:

Cool design, not something I would call a pocket knife.

And thank you for being the guy who makes videos like that to explain things.
Much appreciated!
